8.5 / 10.0 - FAIRY TAIL
Dec 2, 2024

Fairy Tail is a turn-based RPG that manages to have a great representation of the magic of Fairy Tail with its setting, soundtrack and especially the multiple guild and combat features. Even with its flaws, such as a rigid structure of the main campaign (especially before the final stretch) and a clear cut in budget, the result is still something easily recommendable, especially for those who already know Hiro Mashima's universe.

9 / 10.0 - Stray
Nov 30, 2024

I finished Stray in about 5 hours. It's a short game that can be extended a little longer if you want to find all the collectibles, but I have to tell you that the lenght of the experience is perfect. Everything happens at the right time and nothing takes too long, playing this from start to finish is like watching a great movie with a story that leaves you perfectly satisfied. Despite having a much larger universe than what is shown in the game, there is no need for Stray 2, what we have here is enough and beautifully wraps up the journey of an orange cat with his robot friend.

9 / 10.0 - Balatro
Nov 29, 2024

Balatro offers a fair experience within its propposal, inovating taking as basis a simple and intuitive system. Everyone should experience it the same way how a good Solitaire should be experienced: as a logic exercise.

Steam Prison: Beyond the Steam is a decent fandisk, and it offers quite a bit of content for those who enjoyed the original game. However, if you're looking for romance, you'll be sorely disappointed. Even though the game adds three routes, you can only describe them as "well, they're technically new."

Zero to Dance Hero doesn't make you an eximious dancer, obviously, but I liked [how it works] especially as a start to being more active without going out of home to a gym. It seems like one of those Zumba class recordings that always show up in movies for housewives to do in America. [...] But the advantage is that here we have a calories count and can track this daily, evaluating the performance and effort.

While Mario & Luigi: Brotherhood is nowhere near the best game in the series, it's a very solid title that gives hope for the revival of one of the most beloved franchises Mario has to offer. All the charm of the series is intact, with a few changes to try to evolve the formula, but the morose beginning to the adventure and the mentioned technical issues significantly diminish the general impression the game has. It's a very simple game to recommend to those who are already fans of Mario & Luigi, but, for newcomers, maybe one of the previous titles would be more pleasant.

8.5 / 10.0 - Ys X: Nordics
Nov 19, 2024

Ys X: Nordics is an easy recommendation for those who love action and adventure games, and, even with some blunders, this entry is one of the best action RPG experiences you'll find in the market.

Touhou Spell Carnival delivers the easy serotonin from moe anime alongside an interesting, innovative and rewarding gameplay with good progression. It's notable that the game aims at a very specific niche: Touhou fans who also enjoy tactic combat. However, those who meet this criteria will definitely find great pleasure in everything the game has to offer.

If you're a Goblin Slayer fan, this is one of those cases where it may be worth your time as a fan, but I recommend waiting for a sale, as, despite offering enough time for an RPG, there are better games in offer. If you're not a Goblin Slayer fan, just ignore it and find better SRPGs in the market.

6.5 / 10.0 - Metal Slug Tactics
Nov 14, 2024

Metal Slug Tactics is a fun game that combines strategy and traditional elements of the series. Unfortunately, I can't recommend it right now. The issues, especially when it comes to performance and random crashes are very annoying and destroy what should have been a good experience. Besides that, the small font and PT-BR translation, that isn't 100% with many words still in English, are points that should be improved upon. If Dotemu focuses on fixing these mistakes and making it more stable, Metal Slug Tactics may become another fun strategy option in the system.

Castlevania Dominus Collection is another excellent work by Konami and M2 in making their classic titles available for new platforms. The pack contains three fun titles that push Igavania to its limits and explore new and interesting possibilities for the formula.

I've been saving this score for a long time for a special game here in the site, and I can say with no doubt that this game deserves the score, and I hope that, if you eventually play it, you may comprehend it.

If you're a hardcore gamer, this is an easy recommendation, and if you're more casual, I equally recommend it, as long as you start playing it on easy, as this will let you still enjoy most of the content without the risk of the experience becoming frustrating.

“Uncle Thomas, I'll have my cousins over for Christmas this year, is this a good game to buy and play with them?" - Yes, it's a good game to play with them, but if you'd like to go further, I personally find WORMS W.M.D. better, but that's up to you.

I won't be unfair here: having all these versions of GunForce available to try is interesting, but wouldn't it be better to only keep the arcade versions (play only those and just test the others out of curiosity, trust me) and worry about all the rest? Isn't the cost of the collection enough to give more care to the titles? Nonetheless, do play GunForce, they are neat!

Overall, Shin chan: Shiro and the Coal Town definitely works better for players that can deal with repetition, and appeals directly to the cozy games public. It's an excellent title in-between big games, but with a last remark: Shin Chan's hammy humor sincerely didn't age well and can be eye-rolling at a few moments.

Clock Tower: Rewind is a look at a classic horror title that deserves this historical preservation effort and the re-release for a new generation. However, despite the quality of life promise, there isn't enough effort to make this work become actually modernized, leaving it in a way that it's better recommended for horror fans with enough patience to dig into the confusing manor without help (or to peruse external guides without shame).

5.5 / 10.0 - Farmagia
Nov 4, 2024

Farmagia was an idea with a ton of potential, but failed in its execution in most areas, especially in delivering a game that manages to be a bit fun amidst the innumerable issues I can see in this project.

8 / 10.0 - Refind Self
Nov 3, 2024

Refind Self: The Personality Test Game does the best it can to deliver a new experience and manages [to deliver] a very positive result, for a experimental game, I consider this a success and I was left satisfied with an experience that, can you imagine, decided to do the same to me: while I'm here talking about the game, the game is there, talking about me.

Though it's part of a vaster universe, Witch on the Holy Night is a self-contained story, a small piece that represents TYPE-MOON's visual novel catalogue. With impeccable direction and writing, this is definitely the best entrypoint for those who wish to know the universe created by Kinoko Nasu, besides being an easy recommendation to those who still hold prejudice against the genre.
