It’s kind of funny to think how my experience playing Etrange Overlord was almost as dramatic as the game itself. I was frustrated by the bizarre pacing of the first half and the feeling that the game was about to end after just four hours, only to see it finally get its pacing right and deliver a gameplay that hooked me and a story that never stopped surprising me. This is a work whose imperfections are marks of its ambition. The same ambition that wanted to develop 14 characters at once, and the same that created fascinating gameplay around the concept of conveyor belt sushi, and that’s a small price to pay for creating such a memorable experience.

Requiem combines various elements of the series into a unique experience that encapsulates everything Resident Evil has achieved up to this point. At the same time, it transports this experience to one of the most iconic settings in video game culture, one that transcends generations. It’s a blend of nostalgia and a glimpse into the series’ future. The game seems to bring certain story arcs to a close while paving the way for new games, stories, and characters, all without forgetting its legacy.

Scott Pilgrim EX is a fun, simple game that is charming, to say the least, even for those who have no connection to the franchise. Some people may find some of the jokes and video game references here and there a little cringe-worthy, but overall, I think it would be difficult for anyone who likes beat 'em ups to find this game a negative experience.

Dragon Quest VII Reimagined may be divisive among veteran fans of the series, but as a game that also seeks to attract new fans, it is a great entry point. The game is visually very pleasing and quite entertaining, although I think it could be a little more challenging. On the other hand, it is also quite accessible for those who are just entering the world of turn-based RPGs, while offering the classic experience of the genre for longtime fans.

PARANORMASIGHT: The Mermaid's Curse is the easiest 10 I've ever given in my life. Immersive, impactful, and thrilling, Takanari Ishiyama's new work is one of the best experiences you'll have this year, and I'm extremely grateful that Square Enix continues to provide opportunities for smaller-scale games.

Although frustrating for those who played or bought the original game, Ys X: Proud Nordics is still an excellent choice to revisit. For first-time adventurers, it is a spectacular entry point into the Ys series.

The best thing about Code Vein II is it's not "Code Vein too." It builds upon many of its predecessor’s mistakes while simultaneously taking new risks of its own, and although that doesn’t necessarily make it a good game, it certainly makes it an interesting one.

Inazuma Eleven: Victory Road is one of those games that makes you think that all the waiting and delays were really worth it. With an absurd amount of well-made and rich content, gameplay that balances football and RPG well, and quality of life features such as Cross-play and Cross-Progression, the game is a big hit for Level-5 and certainly brings great spotlight to the company and the franchise.

Trails Beyond the Horizon paves the way for the end of the Trails franchise. It's not a perfect game, but it incorporates everything good and bad about the series, resulting in the most Trails game possible. Combined with more polished combat, it was the right recipe to make it one of the best games in the series.

Overall, I enjoyed Utawarerumono: Zan much more than I was expecting. Once I stopped worrying about the story being torn apart, I found a very entertaining game that works for those who don't like the musou genre. I don't recommend it to anyone who wants to get into the franchise, but for those who just want a fluid action game, it might be a good choice.

Milano's Odd Job Collection shows a glimpse of a time when, while video games were evolving rapidly, not so many things were set in stone and companies of different sizes allowed themselves to experiment more. Here we have a game that, even though it uses several familiar elements, does so in a somewhat unique way. It's a short and interesting experience, and I'm glad I got to play it.

Octopath Traveler 0 is the most consistent game in the franchise, with stories that, even though they are self-contained, flow well between each other, and with well-balanced and entertaining battles. And honestly, I wish more franchises would make this kind of offline versions of mobile games.

If it was due to genuine lack of care, negligence because it’s "just a kids’ game", or some other internal issue, we’ll probably never know, but BEYBLADE X EVOBATTLE is just a mediocre game with faint glimpses that it could have been much more than that.

Dragon Quest I and II are games that bring back the classic experience of early console RPGs and show that it wasn't just nostalgia. These games have always been really good, and it's no wonder they were such a huge success. And it's great that games from that era are increasingly available today, whether as faithful ports or remakes.

Perhaps Demonschool, in trying to embrace everything, ended up achieving nothing. The life-sim system is shallow, the combat could encourage more depth in the mechanics, and the writing needed a lot of polishing. My feeling about this game is one of unfulfilled potential, in which a sequel or some other way of revisiting it could create something excellent.

Stray Children is one of those games where part of the fun comes from playing it without knowing much about it. It's a game where those who play without worrying about completing as much as possible will be less frustrated than I was and will also have a more fluid experience. But I don't think they'll have such an impactful experience, for better or for worse. Stray Children is frustrating, obtuse, and sometimes even unfair and cruel, but so is life, and yet it's still worth it.

FULL METAL SCHOOLGIRL is certainly a flawed game that expects some player flexibility to enhance the experience, which doesn’t hide its Simple Series’ DNA. Still, even if they are many, these flaws at least make for a very interesting game in the end.

The greatest strength of Digimon Story: Time Stranger is that, despite its flaws and issues, it offers a very solid and addictive experience for players. With improved gameplay that is more robust than its predecessors, it's a great game for fans and an excellent entry point into the franchise.

Once Upon a Katamari is definitely a welcome addition to the franchise. Mechanically, it is an amalgamation of the best of the series, but contextualized in an interesting way.

Playing CrossWorlds, I'm happy to see that it doesn't just carry this title because of the stages' mechanics that change in the middle of the race with portals and crossovers with franchises inside and outside Sega, but it's also a mix that takes and revises several mechanics from previous titles.
