Chris Capel's Reviews
Realmforge have finally got the formula right. Dungeons 3 is plain, straight, addictive fun from start to finish.
Telltale's Season 2 of Batman started strong, but it was with Episode 2 where they had to prove they could keep the momentum going. They've succeeded.
More like Wasted Journey
Like Deck13's previous game Lords of the Fallen, The Surge is defiantly inspired by the Dark Souls series and wears its influence on its sleeve. It gets the general formula right, especially regarding difficulty and combat, and then it adds new ideas to make things feel fresh. The futuristic sci-fi world is a welcome change from dark fantasy, and the limb-targeting function makes combat more exciting, more visceral, and allows access to better gear. Clever.
Small complaints aside, anyone looking for a missing LucasArts adventure from the early 90s needs to play Thimbleweed Park and will be very happy with it. You know, that period filled with the best adventure games ever made from the best adventure game developer ever? Good. Play it.
No, it's not a sequel to that terrible vampire stealth game. That would've been preferable
Torment has flaws but none that will stop me from considering it a great RPG.
Sadly it’s pretty bad. I don’t mind short games but at two hours (including puzzle solving) the game doesn’t leave much room for storytelling, character and world building, compelling puzzles, or much of anything really.
You’ll almost certainly enjoy it if you buy it, but I can’t recommend it if you haven’t.
It may feel like just more Dishonored, but Arkane have improved everything they could’ve and made a truly satisfying sequel. We just hope it’s not the last.
Whenever I wasn't killing things I was bored out of my mind, as Shadow Warrior 2 offers no reason to explore or do anything but follow the objective marker through all-over-the-place levels. It's just fun enough to hit a 7, but could and should've been so much more and any fans of the first game planning on playing it single player will be hugely disappointed.
If Telltale stay this good we’ll be very happy with Batman, but if they successfully build on the good things about Episodes 1-2 then it could become one of their best seasons. We’re looking forward to finding out.
If you’re in the mood for a simple dungeon crawler to kill a few minutes, Dungeon Rushers is nicely affordable. Anyone else, you might want to upgrade to Hero Quest. You’ve got a few friends right?
Champions of Anteria can be a really addictive and occasionally fun game with nice ideas and a neat sense of humour, but as a Straction RPeGy it’s just got far too many flaws to recommend.
Deus Ex: Mankind Divided is an amazing game and a worthy fourth entry in arguably the best videogame series of all time. It took me 30 hours to finish it and I loved all of it.
A fine start then to Telltale’s Batman, let’s hope the developer builds on it.
How bad does a game have to be to lose “Resident Evil” from the title?
Just what the world needed, a sequel to Mars: War Logs!
It may be a pretty mindless package overall, but it’s not completely without brains.
Doom is now my front-runner for game of the year.
