Hail Satan.
8 / 10.0 - Puyo Puyo Tetris
Apr 24, 2017

Puyo Puyo Tetris is the not so trival encounter between two iconic puzzle game legends: a crossover full of options and possibilities that works well played alone, but becomes an absolute blast when played with friends (and therefore a perfect match for Nintendo Switch).

Colorful, intuitive, deep and incredibly fun, Mario Tennis Aces is truly something for everyone, from casual newcomers to seasoned hardcore gamers. You'll certainly love its unique arcade soul and its rewarding gameplay (especially in multiplayer), yet you'll also regret its disappointing single player components.

Inspired and bewitching, Little Nightmares II fits easily and consistently in the wake of its predecessor, intelligently and elegantly expanding the narrative of a perverse and distressing dimension, yet at the same time almost irresistible.

The pace of the new Kirby is a bit mechanical, and its relaxing linearity could even almost come to boredom - also because we are not at all faced with the emulation of Mario Odyssey that many already foretasted. On the contrary, it will be difficult at the same time to retain the sincere enthusiasm of a range of less experienced and demanding players, who will have the opportunity to experience a memorable journey in the company of an adult, discovering all the magic of a great Nintendo brand production.

7.8 / 10.0 - Snipperclips
Mar 7, 2017

A fun and clever multiplayer experience that would have been perfect if bundled with the console itself. It might lack that special spark of genius that could have turned Snipperclips into a cult classic, but it's still a fascinating and appealing way to show off your brand new Switch to anyone (gamer or not).

Metroid Dread is an experience that is at times deeply enjoyable yet at the same time imperfect.

Nintendo Switch Sports promises roughly what you imagine: giving some surprises in some cases, making a thread turn up your nose for its abstruse narrowness in some others, but in general confirming itself at 360 °. All in all, however, one thought can be said with certainty: if a dozen years ago you had fun, you will return to do it today.

7.7 / 10.0 - Subsurface Circular
Mar 28, 2018

Subsurface Circular is a fascinating and unique project, one that will probably leave you something despite the short length. An incredibly well-written narrative adventure, built with passion, heart and elegance: if it.

7.5 / 10.0 - Flinthook
May 2, 2017

Colorful, cheerful and fun, Flinthook is not only a joy to look at, but above all also a blast to play. Too bad for its uncompromising difficulty and its poor balancing, that prevent this roguelike-platformer from becoming the next cult classic on the indie scene.

7.5 / 10.0 - Strange Brigade
Aug 28, 2018

Strange Brigade is a guilty pleasure that's not easy to resist to: despite a few flaws, Rebellion managed to create a competent third person shooter that oozes with character.

This is not the average campaign add-on you might legitimately expect: Octo Expansion offers a far more demanding (and not always 100% fair) experience. A series of 80 levels that will definitely engage hardcore veterans, but that at the same time might turn off players not too fond of game over screens.

7.5 / 10.0 - Bleeding Edge
Mar 30, 2020

As it stands, Bleeding Edge appears to be a fascinating bet, but perhaps also a gamble on the part of Ninja Theory. Once again, the British developers did not lack the courage nor the appreciable desire to get out of the box, daring to propose something surprisingly far from their canons: the result is a strange online team fighting game with shades of MOBA, which if on the one hand it stands out for its pleasantly over-the-top character and for a satisfying depth of gameplay - but destined to emerge only by arming itself with patience and a close-knit team in tow - on the other it denotes manifest limits of content and a certain immaturity in the development. Who knows, maybe it would have made sense to postpone the release for a few months, presenting itself at launch with more substance (both in the essence of the gameplay and in everything that is exquisitely contour), or opt for a 100% free to play formula. In any case, the potential at Bleeding Edge certainly does not seem to be lacking, and indeed the basis for something encouraging can still be seen: it remains to be seen what the support for the title will be in the medium / long term, the only factor actually able to transform what today is a promise with a lot of personality in a truly noteworthy exclusive.

WarioWare: Get It Together! it is a triumph of the absurd, a brilliant example of game design as well as yet another, tasty demonstration of how much Nintendo knows how to be scapestrata, irrentent and even dirty. The idea of characters with somewhat different abilities is a non-trivial solution, which gives character to this episode of the series, while not everyone will appreciate the decisive turn towards a decidedly more cooperative and less competitive fruition.

7.3 / 10.0 - Eagle Flight
Nov 22, 2016

Despite being a competent VR title (mainly thanks to its interesting controls) and a fascinatingly weird flying simulator, Eagly Flight ultimately lacks a bit of depth and structure. Which is honestly a pity, considering how entertaining is to actually fly around a wasted Paris reclaimed by Mother Nature.

7.3 / 10.0 - Shooty Fruity
Jan 8, 2018

Shooty Fruity is a funny arcade shooter with a distinctive personality, one that will hook you with its immediate gameplay, its frantic shooting action and its quirky multi-tasking. You might encounter some technical limitations (due to the Move Controllers rather than the software itself), some questionable game design choices and a certain lack of contents, but it's hard not to smile when you have to use one hand to keep a group of wild rasperries at bay with a machine gun, while scanning products at a cash desk with the other.

7.3 / 10.0 - The Gardens Between
Oct 10, 2018

The Gardens Between is a game that's overall pretty fun to play, but also one that won't leave you with very much in the end: a not so insignificant flaw for something that's trying to celebrate the value of remembrance.

7 / 10 - Pikuniku
Feb 1, 2019

A charming little adventure with a good heart, a quirky atmosphere and a fascinating tone. Pros and cons can for once essentially be the same: some will be delighted by the randomness and the utter simplicity of the whole experience, while others might find it a bit too much.

7.3 / 10.0 - Good Job!
Apr 8, 2020

As is Good Job! it remains an interesting and well packaged product, but ultimately also a little "light". In short, net of a not very popular price, a side dish not bad to alternate perhaps with much more structured and demanding experiences.

Although with a different and less fiercely hardcore disposition, Boomerang X reminded me with ill-concealed enthusiasm of that independent gem that responds to the name of Devil Daggers.

7.2 / 10.0 - Guacamelee! 2
Aug 21, 2018

A very traditional sequel of a little indie cult: Juan's return is still OK, but ultimately lacks the inspiration and the freshness that made the original so great. Maybe Guacamelee! was simply a better game overall, or maybe smash hits such as Hollow Knight and Dead Cells changed the face of the metroidvania genre for good: eventually Guacamelee! 2 leaves a pretty nice impression, but one that's far from the stellar debut.
