Eight years after the original Wii version, this Extra Epic Yarn comes back on the old 3DS console, with a new diabolical mode which brings ' tiny bit of challenge to an overall very easy game. Its two new mini-games might be now enough to bring back the players of 2010, especially with a lower frame rate and no 3D effects at all. Still, Kirby's Extra Epic Yarn still is a good platformer and might satisfy 3DS owners.

6 / 10 - Eastshade
Mar 2, 2019

Eastshade delivers an original first person walker experience with its anthropomorphic world where all you have to do is paint. Too bad its lacky graphics and chaotic frame rate ruins the mood more than once, because its wonderful soundtrack leaves the player with a strange bliss sensation. The benefit of a walk in the forest, no doubt.

8 / 10 - APE OUT
Feb 28, 2019

Ape Out is a clever mix somewhere between the twin stick shooter and the beat'em all genres, which rely on its colorful yet simple visuals and a fantastic sound design focus solely on the drums to deliver a violent and quite unique experience in a very, very difficult adventure to freedom. Those brave enough to fight hundreds of armed to the teeth guards will experience a tough but rewarding game will enjoy its beautiful artistic direction for sure.

Trials Rising sticks to its roots by offering and fun and challenging trip around the world, putting aside the flashy neon look of its previous entry. Eighteen years after its original release on PlayStation, Final Fantasy IX is back on Switch, but with all the flaws inherited from the PC/PS4 port of 2017. But in the end, its compressed soundtrack and smartphone interface will not make us forget the greatness of such an adventure, which could have benefit from a sweeter launch price.

Necrosphere is a tough, ruthless but fair challenge which takes a shiny new take at the 2D platformer genre by reducing its controls to a strange minimum. With only two buttons to cope with the progressive range of movements, players will have to learn how to master the game's mecanics. Thank to the addition of an even more hardcore bonus, the main game short's length will keep players awake for more.

Sending the player at the heart of the horrors of World War II inside Warsaw Ghetto, My Memories of Us uses the conflict to tell a beautiful story of childhood friendship, telling this part of history through their own eyes. With its classic mecanics and some inacurrate collisions, Juggler's game still have a certain charm thanks to its beautifl artistic direction and soundtrack.

7 / 10 - Pikuniku
Jan 22, 2019

Despite its childish look, Pikuniku tells us a revolutionary tale of a random guy joining a resistance group fighting against an evil corporation. Funny until the end, Devolver's new game may mostly count on its strange physics, even to the point of frustration when the game asks for strong platformer parts. The two-player mode might balance a very short length though.

With this second episode, The Legacy of the First Blade knifes all the roleplay Ubisoft spent dozens of hours to build in a three-hour short and highly questionable story. Even the great battleships and a brand new weapon wil not save Assassin's Creed Odyssey from this wrongly twisted cliffhanger that might disappoint most adventurers out there.

With this new Switch port, The Office Quest might find a new audience : with this very fun parody of a splenetic and standardised office space, 11 Sheep's point'n click delivers a universal message. Fun and caustic all the way, The Office Quest still suffers from a strong classicism that will make it a short trip for the genre veterans.

Ten years after the original, Mario & Luigi's third adventure makes a great come bakc, thanks to its graphic renewal and the addition of a new campaign, once again staring Bowser Jr. Whether you already played the game or not, this reedition of one of the best episodes the series delivers should definitively be worth your time.

Battle Princess Madelyn tries to deliver a new twist to the old Ghosts'n Goblins formula. Unfortunately, its broken level design forbids Causal Games hommage to reach the same heights as Arthur's adventure. With no clues on what to do or where to go, even players looking for a tough challenge will only consider the arcade mode worthy of interest, if they want to enjoy the game's gorgeous graphics and art direction.

9 / 10 - GRIS
Dec 13, 2018

With its first game, the newborn Nomada Studio hit the sky. With its striking evocative force, GRIS not only pleases the eyes, thanks to Conrad Roset's beautiful art style, but speaks to all of our senses. Revealing its numerous tricks one by one, the game succeed in delivering both splendid an complex visuals without ever getting frustrating. Worn by a sumptuous soundtrack which tells the story as much as the background, GRIS is nothing but a true masterpiece.

Conduct Together! seems to be a simple port of a mobile game at first, but this Switch version of Northplay's tiny management game is a delightful experience that will be enjoyed alone or with friends, thus arraying two different approches.

With this new Assassin's Creed Odyssey storyline, the player is pleased to meet those who are not the Assassins yet, but still use their hidden blade. This very short DLC is filled with interesting characters, but the lack of brand new mechanics at this stage should let you wait until the release of all the three episodes to buy this DLC.

7 / 10 - Rival Megagun
Dec 4, 2018

By mixing the shooter genre will the old versus fighting mechanics, Rival Megagun delivers an interesting experience that might seem curious players looking for an brand new old-school experience. With its tiny roster falling short, Rival Megagun will still deliver fun duels, thanks to its fury jauge that will make each fight different and interesting. Too bad its short solo mode and terrible character design weighs down the game, which still delivers beautiful 2D sprites and background.

With Return of the Obra Dinn, Lucas Pope once again aims for the heart : this post-mortem mystery demands quite a lot from the player, but delivers one of the most rewarding experiences of this year. Return of the Obra Dinn is not suited for everyone, but its wonderful disjointing storytelling will keep those who agree to its formula awake for long.

Four years after its original release, Valiant Hearts celebrates the centenary of the Armistice with this Switch release. With the same strong experience remaining unchanged, it still is a pleasure to (re)discover Emile or Kurt's destinies, tahniks to the beautiful UbiArt Framework. With only two bonuses taking the form of an animated comic book and a regular artbook, Valiant Hearts still deserves another look, whether or not you already experienced it.

Under its good looks as a true Game Boy hommage, Save me Mr Tako only delivers the bare minimum : its uninspired level design sometimes try to hide a story which you should not give too much attention to. Save me Mr Tako is simply way too classical to face the strong opponents it has to face.

11-11 : Memories Retold chooses to tell the story on the ground, through the eyes of simple human beings embedded in a conflict so much bigger than them. French studio DigixArt delivers a memorable adventure, served by a remarkable and right writing and acting, superb impressionist visuals from Aardman Animations, and one of the best soundtrack of the year. Too bad that its core gameplay really lacks of challenge and that there's still some persistent bugs. But there could be no better way to celebrate peace in 2018.
