Wandersong is a colorful musical platformer which do not bet everyhting on its technical part, but delivers a cheerful fable along its ten hour run. However, its non-existant challenge will reserve it to short sessions only. But thanks to its cheerful cast of well-written characters, Wandersong let the palyer enjoy nothing but good feelings, thansk to the ever so-satisfying power of music.

Once again, Grezzo delivers a strong port for the 3DS, even though players of the original game should not expect so many new features. With only a small co-op mode and some items from Luigi's Mansion 2, the game really aims those who might have miss it back in 2002.

8 / 10 - Mega Man 11
Oct 3, 2018

To celebrate its late 30th birthday, the Blue Bomber comes back with a strong 11th episode which finally takes some risks. The brand new Double Gear System breezes a fresh wind on the still satisfying classic mecanics of the series. With twisted boss fights and four very well-though difficulty modes, only the very meh soundtracks might forbid you to call bakc this old pal.

Assassin's Creed Odyssey seems to be the series paroxysm : wider, richer and deeper than every other episode, the game still suffers from repetitiveness. The fascinating manhunt and the real choices will keep most players hooked up for a while, but only those who bought a PS4 Pro or a Xbox One X will benefit form the game's beautiful visuals. If you want to explore this endless greek world inhabited with brilliant minds of their time, you will have to go through more of the same fetch quests the series has dealt with for so long.

Old School Musical is much more than a funny hommage to the 8 and 16 bit era. With a strong content of almost 50 tracks and a well-written story mode, La Moutarde's rhythm game delivers a strong content, but you will have to quickly switch to hard mode to face a real challenge. Too bad its classic mecanics avoid taking risks, otherwise it would have been an instant classic on its own.

Valkyria Chronicles 4 take the series back to its roots for the better. The new E Squad may use the very same twists and stories as the first episode, but the game itself stills delivers a solid war experience somewhere between the tactical genre and the TPS. Unfortunately, only those able to accept its naive manga tone may enjoy this light experience : indeed, the endless and sometimes pointless conversations are a real nightmare.

3 / 10 - Morphies Law
Sep 6, 2018

Morphies Law is a laughable game. But you laugh at it, not with it. If the mass transfer might be a very well-though alternative to the TPS genre, the game's physics and unstable controls will irritate the msot patient of gamers. It's three varied modes might have been a good excuse to grind and try the different weapons offered by the game, but I might by quite difficult to enjoy Morphies Law otherwise than being passably drunk.

7 / 10 - Donut County
Aug 31, 2018

If you take Donut County for what it is - a short and weird experience - Ben Esposito's game will deliver a sweet moment of a strange experiment. Built as an anti-Katamari Damacy, the hole mecanics are really addictive and fun to play with, even though the game suffers from a very short length. But if you are curious enough to try something as weird as the most bizarre japanese games, you might be in for a treat.

8 / 10 - Hollow Knight
Aug 30, 2018

Team Cherry's Hollow Knight avoid all the traps of the Kickstarter project : with its strong artistic direction, the game offers a deep adventure, but only to those strong enough to get through the cryptic beginning of the game. If you feel like trying your best, Hollow Knight, will deliver memorable memories, thanks to its wonderful environments and very intelligent soundtrack. Too bad many players will quit before seeing it.

8 / 10 - Dead Cells
Aug 6, 2018

Being in development for such a long time, Dead Cells avoids the trap and lives up to its expectations. Nevertheless, only those brave enough to face its strong difficulty will be able to discover a deep and generous adventure. Despite a certain level of repetitiveness, even though the randomly generated levels stilla re hand-driven, Dead Cells' offers a brilliant artistic direction and a great but discreet soundtrack.

Wario Ware Gold feels like a very best of the series to this day : with a few new mini-games and many old ones, this episode cannot hide the feeling of redudancy. But with its 300 microgames, many crazy modes and a ton of WTF gadgets, every player can now experience the craziness of Wario Ware. Too bad the hardcore crew do already know most of its content.

This first Mega Man X compilation might seem a little short on contents, but the pleasure to play through Mega Max X1 to 4 might be enough for most gamers of the 90's. With a wide museum gallery and some interesting bonuses, this collection just fail to deliver new strong modes, even though the newcomers will be more than pleased by the Rookie one.

Playing Mega Man X Legacy Collection 2 makes us wonder why Capcom split the Mega Man X series in two. With the same bonus than the first compilation, you are left with episodes X5 to X8, which carry with them the licence into an abyss of torpor. Why would you get this second part ? We do not know either.

The Spectrum Retreat is full of good ideas and mysteries, but Dan Smith's first game is way too linear while playing the walking simulator card to please every amateur of the genre. Too many clues are given about the delicate subject being treated, but the core mecanics of dozen of color-based puzzles might be good enough to give it a go. With just a bit more coherence between the gameplay and the narrative, it could have been memorable.

Ocotpath Traveler is a strong entry to the old-school J-RPG genre, even though its classicism may forbid it to reach the greatest titles its taking inspiration from. As simple as solid, this retro adventure features enough mecanics to offer a deep fighting system, well-balanced and which brillantly avoids countless levelling sessions. Too bad Octopath Traveler's narrative simply serves us eight not-so-much-connected stories, otherwise it could have been an instant classic.

Simple and almost trivial at first sight, The Awesome Adventures of Captain Spirit let the player be amazed by being so much accurate. Life is Strange 2 introduction chapter gives us a glimpse of one little boy's boring Saturday morning being transformed into a space odyssey thanks to the power of imagination. Neither surprising nor challening, the game will still easily deserves another playthrough for those whom want to witness every situation it has to offer. Too bad Captain Spirit lacks delicacy in so many ways...

One year after its original release, Splatoon 2 finally gets the one-player mode it deserves. With 80 brand new challenges, the Octo Expansion bring some fresh air and almost transforms the franchise into a solo adventure. Its tough difficulty may sometimes seem too much, but its bribe system will forbid anyone to be stuck forever. Get ready to build up your skill, but only when a sale period might make this DLC more affordable.

Beyond its colorful and cartoonesque visuals, Yoku's Island Express delivers a strong Metroidvania experience mixed with flipper mecanics. This generous and smart adventure keeps a balanced challenge from start to finish, and mixes typical flipper challenges with deep exploration gameplay. Despite a binary system of flippers and few bosses, Yoku's Island Express is a good ride with a fresh tone.

Sega Genesis Classics is without a doubt the best hommage the old 16-bit Sega console could receive. With 50 games, which features solid gold trilogies, only the retrogaming haters may miss this very best-of, lacking the expired licence-based titles. The new interface offers countless options to prevent us from frustration, and the four saves slots for each game could take you back to the past for more than a few hours.

6 / 10 - FOX n FORESTS
May 16, 2018

Fox n Forests delivers a religious hommage to the 16-bit era platformers, with satisfying big sprites, pixelart backgrounds, but also loose collisions and a mad respawn system. Its numerous upgrades add a nice touch to the adventure, but serves as a weak excuse to revisit the same stages over and over. This is particularly infortunate, because Fox n Forests still has nice aces up its sleeve, like specific controls and shoot'em up stages.
