Mitch Jay's Reviews

I’ve been gaming since a very young age and although I can’t remember my very first game, I fondly remember enjoying Sonic the Hedgehog 2 and being giddy with joy once I beat Dr. Robotnik. My all-time favourite game is a tie between Persona 4 Golden and Final Fantasy IX. As you may have noticed, I have a love for JRPG’s although I dabble in all genres. My favourite genres are fighters, visual novels and, of course, JRPG’s. I currently work with Rice Digital, NEO Magazine, Manga UK, Anime Limited, PCGamesN, PlayStation LifeStyle, J-Novel Club and Japan Curiosity. I was previously an Editor at PS4 Attitude. Like the season itself, Memento of Spring is a gentle, breezy read.

It's impossible to shake off the feeling that this game was solely phoned in to capitalise on the anime and manga's success.

It's fun, but there's little depth to the gameplay and story, and it relies too heavily on making jokes.

A short, entertaining adventure that'll leave you satisfied.

It's repetitive and will give you a thumb ache, but it's brief and a blast to play. It doesn't call me back to revisit it like Golden Axe and Streets of Rage have done in the past, but it's a great little title for Switch – and the other platforms it's on.

It really isn't all that bad, but there's much better to play and a great JRPG is never too far away.

Square Enix Collective has picked a strong title to support, and it's one that's wholly deserved it.

The game itself might take place on a relatively small scale, but the ambition of the game is much bigger.

Battles do get a little on the long side sometimes though, which makes it harder to binge hours on at a time, but if you play this with a couple of friends I imagine you can have an incredibly fun time.
