Ultra Off-Road 2019: Alaska presents itself as a racing game that puts the player in courses with obstacles and meteorological conditions, the problem is none of this works as expected. Repetitive game mechanics, with very little to attract the players and with a poor and flawed audiovisual performance, Ultra Off-Road 2019: Alaska gives off the impression that this game should simply not be available on the Nintendo Switch eShop catalogue.

3 / 10 - Trouserheart
Oct 12, 2019

Trouserheart is a game that was originally developed for mobile but and whose conversion for the Nintendo Switch unfortunately adds almost nothing to the experience. Despite a humorous plot, every other aspect of Trouserheart feels way too sub-par and the result is a game whose conversion to the Nintendo Switch is not worthy of highlighting compared to other more enjoyable games.

Warplanes: WW2 Dogfight tries to fill in a gap in the Nintendo Switch catalogue when it comes to aerial combat games. While it provides a good amount of aircraft and missions to fulfill, the overall experience is very disappointing: its heavy and clunky gameplay feels very removed from what the game is supposed to deliver and its sub-par visual environment, not to mention almost absent audio component, make this an effort that is better left outside the radar of all but the most hardcore and needy aerial combat fans.

RIOT - Civil Unrest pits the player in the midst of scenes of violent urban confrontations based on real life events and is worthy of praise for introducing such an unusual premise. When it comes to execution, though, RIOT is less likely to impress, especially when it comes to its control system and to problems when assessing the most relevant elements on the screen. The promise of future updates can sort out some of the game's flaws but until then, this is a title that's very difficult to recommend.

4 / 10 - Refunct
Jun 15, 2019

While the idea is laudable and worthy of attention, Refunct does very little to go beyond something superficial and short-lived. It's clear that there was potential to make this a more ambitious game, so what Refunct proposes feels like a big disappointment.

5 / 10 - Skellboy
May 13, 2020

Skellboy features as many interesting elements as it features detracting obstacles. If the game's body parts' swapping mechanic is original and welcome and its art style is very good to look at, its uninspired combat system and performance issues end up setting the threshold at a lower level. So while Skellboy has enough features to please fans of adventure games, its flaws will limit the game's overall appeal.

Seal the Deal is a DLC for A Hat in Time that feels too short for it to be a major contribution to the game. Seal the Deal also allows for a higher difficulty setting which can become too frustrating for many players. Nevertheless, given the nature of this DLC and the way that it is presented more like a gift to owners of A Hat in Time for Nintendo Switch, then Seal the Deal can act as an enjoyable, if limited, contribution.

Stranger Things 3: The Game can get the job done when it comes to recreating the environment of the very popular Netflix series, which by itself makes the game attractive to fans of Stranger Things, but the story is different when it comes to providing an interesting and involving gameplay, as its RPG elements feel superficial and the combat is far from enjoyable.

5 / 10 - Homo Machina
May 11, 2019

Homo Machina is based on a fun concept and the whole game is laden with funny puzzles and situations that will catch the player's attention immediately. It could be even better if Homo Machina featured a longer, more enjoyable lifespan and if its controls were improved when it comes to being played on a television screen. Homo Machina is an example of a game that does several things right and which needs more of that.

Slender: The Arrival lands on the Nintendo Switch six years after its original release and while the game's visual environment looks visibly dated, its sound atmosphere remains exquisite and transmits a feeling of restlessness. Where Slender: The Arrival falls below par is when it comes to its rather generic plot and a feeling of repetitiveness, aggravated by a short lifespan.

Overwatch finally makes it to the Nintendo Switch but other than giving its fans an option on a Nintendo platform, this version is overall subpar experience. The framerate drop compared to the other versions, which falls even deeper in some moments and visual flaws make this feel like a downgraded experience, while the lack of crossplatform compatibility leaves this version isolated and its handheld advantage in impaired by the requirement of an internet connection.

Battle Princess Madelyn follows the footsteps of 1980s 2D classics with very high levels of difficulty. With its metroidvania elements, Battle Princess Madelyn ends up not living up to its expectations but its more action-oriented arcade mode is certainly an enjoyable experience. While it's not a groundbreaking title and it suffers from gameplay problems, Battle Princess Madelyn has its redeeming factors.

6 / 10 - The Low Road
May 23, 2019

The Low Road follows the footsteps of classic point and click adventures from two decades ago and does it with a marvelous looking art style and with a very good sound environment. Where The Low Road ends up falling short of expectations is when it comes to some aspects of its gameplay, which feels too cumbersome at times and overall, too limited to a textbook definition of point and click that was not brought into the contemporary age.

Trine 3: The Artifacts of Power continues with the Trine tradition of puzzle-solving co-op gameplay which has worked fine before and continues to work fine today. The main issue with Trine 3 is how it made the transition to a 3D world, one which just does not fit well with the gameplay and ends up feeling less enjoyable than its predecessors as a consequence, even if its worlds are still gorgeous to look at and to listen to.

7 / 10 - StarBlox Inc.
Jan 12, 2020

StarBlox Inc. for the Nintendo Switch is what happens when a brawler and a puzzler intersect. Even if it's not the most gorgeous game ever made, this effort can provide some unmistakably fun hours, especially on multiplayer, as the puzzle-based combats advance and the variety of game modes allow for different variations of the experience.

7 / 10 - A Hat in Time
Oct 27, 2019

A Hat in Time may not revolutionize 3D platforming but that doesn't stand in its way of this being a fun game which fans of the style will undoubtedly enjoy. Despite technical issues which can harm the experience to a certain extent, this is an overall well designed work and which is well worth the time and effort that players put into it.

Super Cane Magic ZERO brings a mix of cartoonish art style and absurd comedy plot to a 2D action RPG and results in one of the most original efforts of the genre in the last few years. While the game's loading times and sound components could definitely use improvements, as well as the instructions regarding plot advances, the game provides a fun experience and it encourages the players to experiment, bringing an additional layer of fun in the form of its cooperative multiplayer component.

Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Order is plentiful in elements that will make Marvel universe fans happy and satisfied, whether in the amount of characters, their variety or the correct use of different Marvel series. But while this action RPG is rich in cooperative play, end-level bosses and characters, it also has some elements that stand on its way to stand higher, such as performance issues, a too simple combat system and a rather dry audio experience. Flaws notwithstanding, Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3 is still worthy of the players' time, though it's certainly much more recommended to Marvel fans.

7 / 10 - Trials Rising
Mar 2, 2019

Trials Rising is the latest game in the Trials series, a name associated with very high and demanding difficulty levels. This chapter brings to the Nintendo Switch a game that is both very fun but also affected by technical flaws. While the experience is mostly positive, it's important that the flaws get corrected through updates, as that would significantly improve the experience.

Shadow Fight 2 joins the large catalogue of fighting games on the Nintendo Switch in a genre that has a lot of competition. While this may not be the finest masterpiece ever done, Shadow Fight 2 features an original gameplay which coupled with its art style, can make this a fun and enjoyable experience, despite its disappointing single player mode.
