Ivanir Ignacchitti's Reviews

I'm an enthusiast of handhelds, visual novels and Japanese RPGs.

Atelier Ryza 3: Alchemist of the End & the Secret Key maintains the trilogy high bar in a broader experience that values exploration. The last game in the trilogy ends Ryza and her friends' summer vacation very well, demonstrating the growth of the characters and the developer itself over the almost four years since the launch of the first Atelier Ryza.

Delete After Reading is a text adventure that doesn't make the most out of its proposal. Though the last chapter is a good example of what could have been, the challenges are really basic and limited and the interaction with the text lacks boldness and innovation. Fans of child stories who like text games may still appreciate the game but they'll likely notice it could have been a lot more interesting.

Sixtar Gate: STARTRAIL is a rhythm game that may be appealing to veterans but its advantages aren't easily translated to newcomers in the genre. With a really weak story mode and lacking relevant tutorials, this is hard to recommend to people who don't appreciate the technical side of those games. For those who are already lovers of this game style, however, there's a ton of content and the interface adjustments may leave you with a really comfortable experience above average.

7.5 / 10.0 - Meg's Monster
Mar 20, 2023

Meg’s Monster is a humble game that takes the appearance of an RPG as a mechanism to tell its story. Though it ends up underdeveloped in some aspects, it's an easy recommendation for players who get emotional over child tales with good moral lessons.

7.5 / 10.0 - The Smile Alchemist
Mar 17, 2023

The Smile Alchemist is a simple game about the creative process of alchemy as a business enterprise and an optimist young man trying to help people. It's a very pleasant casual experience for lovers of simulators who don't want anything too complicated.

The re-release of Digimon World: Next Order is a great chance for fans of the series who don't own a PlayStation to take advantage of sim raising. Unfortunately, the advantages stop there. The quality of the work leaves a lot to be desired and even the translation into Portuguese, which was supposed to be a differential of the new version, indicates a great lack of care by Bandai Namco with what it is offering to the end user.

Fatal Frame: Mask of the Lunar Eclipse is top-notch survival horror and an easy recommendation of the genre. With a very polished Japanese horror setting and a very thought-provoking plot, the fourth game in the Fatal Frame franchise is an experience that sticks in the head and can even keep anyone who dives deep into the game awake at night.

The Legend of Heroes: Trails to Azure maintains the high quality of the series and presents a satisfying (but temporary) ending to the Crossbell arc, offering significant upgrades on PC and Switch compared to the original PSP version. The expectation now is to see how the tenth game in the series, Trails into Reverie, will make the most of the elements of this story and the Erebonia arc to offer a more conclusive resolution [to the current story] and kickstart the next adventures in the Zemuria continent.

PARANORMASIGHT: The Seven Mysteries of Honjo is one of the most interesting games of its genre, standing out especially for its clever use of camera framing and for playing with the player's perception through multiple perspectives and metalinguistic elements. This title is an easy recommendation for any player interested in narrative works and shows how many ingenious ways to rethink the concept of adventure and, more specifically, visual novels.

Kirby's Return to Dream Land Deluxe is a good example of the series that is worth it for those who like 2D platformers. Although the simple design of the levels makes completing them easy, the game follows the maxim that makes Kirby one of Nintendo's most interesting mainstays: the value here is the fun of the journey and doing everything the game presents, including post-game content, is a great challenge for anyone who is a completionist.

void tRrLM2(); //void Terrarium 2 is still a unique combination of genres in a way that can't be found in the market. However, it's recommended for people who have already explored the first game because it opts to continue the narrative in a very direct way.

Metroid Prime Remastered is an exemplary return of a great classic from Nintendo's library, nailing the way to revisit it for modern audiences. As a fan of the franchise, I am very happy to see it receive this level of care and attention from its developers. It is now hoped that the same will be done with Metroid Prime 2: Echoes (GC/Wii) and Metroid Prime 3: Corruption (Wii) while the new game is still in production.

Grim Guardians: Demon Purge manages to play with the format of one of the great action platforming classics and show again their mastery of the genre. Though some details such as not having a map during gameplay can make the experience more confusing and tiring than it should have been, this is still easily recommended for those who like the genre.

Life is Strange 2 is an exciting, unforgettable and visceral journey through a world of injustices, but which also holds many beauties. It is an essential game for anyone who enjoys good narratives and is particularly moved by the topic of family, with the Switch version being a good way to enjoy it.

9 / 10.0 - BETA-SIXDOUZE
Feb 15, 2023

BETA-SIXDOUZE manages to dive deeper into what Nanahoshi Dentou and Liar-soft had in mind in ALPHA-NIGHTHAWK, consolidating STX-SF as a series that's really worth giving a try. Though there are a few negative elements, it's an easy recommendation to anyone who loves a good futuristic story.

9 / 10.0 - DRAINUS
Feb 15, 2023

DRAINUS is a very high quality shoot'em up that shows very well the level of experiences of the genre available on the market. With a mechanical proposal that values the player's strategic effort and good variety in the design of stages and bosses, the game is guaranteed fun.

Overall, Labyrinth of Galleria: The Moon Society refines the ideas of its predecessor, creating a dungeon RPG experience worth knowing for any person interested in the genre. There is a lot of maleability in the creation of big, plural teams, as well as special powers that fundamentally change the player's relationship with the labyrinth despite the occasional feeling of restriction as we unlock essential actions through story events that seem formulaically distributed rather than organic parts of progressing through them.

7 Days to End With You is a curious game whose language concept originally seems interesting, but which turns out to be a superficial view on this topic. Even so, the mysteries hidden under these mechanics are curious and it is a title that fans of more atypical narrative works and logical puzzles may be curious to know.

The Crimson Flower that Divides: Lunar Coupling is an otome visual novel that's worth it for the genre fans but the English translation is lacking. The social and political context of the plot is enticing and brings up relevant discussions on power and sexism that stand out from any apparent romanticization of affect in a morally questionable context. We hope HuneX can fix these issues and work for the next games to have more care in translation quality as this is an essential element of the genre.

One Piece Odyssey is a curious turn-based RPG whose affection for Eiichiro Oda's original work is noticeable in every little detail. In addition, it explores very interesting mechanics to make both combat and exploration pleasant experiences worthy of the best examples of the genre. However, it's important to keep in mind that there are a number of small bugs that can be bothersome, and the Portuguese translation in particular deserved better quality assurance treatment.
