3 / 5.0 - Bleeding Edge
Mar 26, 2020

At its core, a unique brawler game that is held back from reaching its full potential by repetitive gameplay and a lack of features that in 2020 should absolutely be standard, at launch, for any game trying to squeeze into the crowded multiplayer game market

4.5 / 5.0 - MLB The Show 20
Mar 13, 2020

MLB The Show 20 charters a different more sustainable path of focusing on the things that needed more love, rather piling more onto the game modes that regularly get more attention.

All in all Pokemon Sword and Shield, despite being the first core game on the Nintendo Switch, is a very typical Pokemon game. It innovates a bit, messes stuff that should have been left alone up, and leaves other things alone for better or for worse just like every generation before it.

As of right now, Shadowkeep is a mix of hits and misses and feels a bit incomplete in certain areas. It does just enough though to keep the dedicated player invested while they wait for more content to trickle out throughout the year.

4 / 5.0 - Borderlands 3
Sep 20, 2019

Borderlands 3 is the ultimate example of playing it safe and giving their core fans exactly what they want to see. I can certainly understand the desire to not fix what isn’t broken. It’s a valid strategy.

3.5 / 5.0 - Control
Aug 26, 2019

In spite of itself Control still winds up being an enjoyable unique feeling action game that isn’t like anything else on the market right now, and won’t take up a ton of your time.

Whether you just plan on stopping by for the story and messing around with friends locally every once in a while, or plan on going hardcore into online play, you’ll have plenty to do, and you’ll have plenty of fun doing it until whenever the next Mortal Kombat game comes out some time in the next generation.

4.5 / 5.0 - MLB 19: The Show

Because of all these positive changes, I feel quite confident in saying MLB The Show 19 is the freshest and most polished iteration of the series we've seen in years.

3.5 / 5.0 - Crackdown 3
Feb 14, 2019

Ultimately, none of the flaws in Crackdown 3 are deal-breakers but they hold it back from being truly great. If you can look past them, and just enjoy Crackdown 3 for what it is: a game that gives you a wacky toolset to blast enemies away for 10-20 hours or more, then you'll definitely find value and fun here.

Put simply, Gathering Storm checks all the boxes of what a great expansion should be and is a must own for hardcore Civilization VI fans looking for a reason to spice things up in an incredibly positive way or get back into the game if they've been dormant.

In the more likely event that you missed it the first time around, New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe is a must-play for 2D Mario fans and is the best in the 2D line of games since Super Mario World.

The [Persona 3] gameplay is still solid, and while the track list is a slight downgrade, it's still decent enough, and enjoyable. At its core, Persona 5: Dancing in Starlight is a solid music/rhythm game, with a mostly good track list, that is very fun to play; that has to factor in.

4 / 5.0 - Battlefield V
Nov 16, 2018

What I can say with confidence, though, is that Battlefield fans now have two great current-gen shooters, one set in each of the World Wars to choose from. If you skipped Battlefield 1, or don't mind paying to jump to what will now be the actively supported game in the series for the next few years, Battlefield V is definitely worth picking up at some point.

Red Dead Redemption 2 has certainly benefited from Rockstar allocating almost a whole generation's worth of development time to perfect what they wanted to accomplish. The result is a game that is easily one of the best games this year, and this console generation, but that's not all. It should eventually go down as one of the greatest games ever made.

5 / 5.0 - Forza Horizon 4
Sep 25, 2018

There's so much more in Forza Horizon 4 that I didn't have space to touch on such as player housing, #Forzathon, discoverable beauty points, character customization, plans for Route Creator, and more. It's hard to imagine an arcade racer this generation playing and looking much better than Forza Horizon 4.
