Control: Resonant is Remedy at its finest: strange, ambitious, and hard to compare to anything else. Its fantastic hack-and-slash gameplay takes a while to reveal its full potential and can feel somewhat repetitive at times, but it ultimately delivers frantic, flexible, and incredibly addictive combat. Its extraordinary mobility, the strength of its narrative, and a Manhattan capable of creating one-of-a-kind images and sensations make this sequel one of the most unique games of the year.

Following in the footsteps of Three Houses, Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave features a four-protagonist structure, though it suffers from some pacing issues in the first half. Fortunately, once it overcomes those hiccups and returns to being a true Fire Emblem game, it delivers some of the best battles in the entire franchise, all set against the most spectacular and varied backdrop the series has seen to date.

Captain Tsubasa 2: World Fighters doesn't reinvent the formula, but it does refine it enough to make it a highly recommended sequel for any fan of the series. Its excellent recreation of the World Youth tournament, the spectacular nature of its matches, and the vast amount of content for customizing your player more than make up for its somewhat simple mechanics and limited selection of game modes. It doesn't try to be a great soccer game, but that's precisely why it succeeds as a magnificent Captain Tsubasa simulation.

Tales of Xillia Remastered is a well-deserved second chance. This is a very traditional JRPG that, while not groundbreaking within the genre, is one of the most beloved in the Tales of series.
