DOOM Eternal (Switch) Reviews
DOOM Eternal is considered to be one of the best first-person shooters of this console generation. Jump into this fast-paced sequel to DOOM (2016), fight against the arbiters of Hell to save the last surviving humans. Now on the Switch, it's a feat to behold, because Nintendo isn't known for FPS's. The quality may be downgraded and the controls clunky at times, but it's definitely one of the best Switch ports I've ever played.
This is another impossible port from the folks at Panic Button, and one of the best of all at that. Doom Eternal is simply the best shooter available for Nintendo Switch and a manual on how to shrink down one of the most intensive game of the year on a handheld console.

Tight frantic gameplay, accompanied by a thrilling score and an awesome campaign with a ton of upgrades and collectibles. There is plenty to be positive about with this port, as having DOOM Eternal portable and with gyro controls will please many. It is hard to not notice the downgraded textures and lower performance which set it aside from the sublime PC, Xbox and PlayStation versions, but Panic Button must be commended for putting together such an ambitious project for the Switch, one that runs incredibly competently for downgraded hardware. The price is somewhat of a sticking point given that a superior version can be purchased for much less and is also available physically, whereas the Switch is digital only. These minor issues aside DOOM Eternal is well worth the investment of both time and money and should be a welcome addition to any Nintendo Switch library.
Doom Eternal on the Switch is another great port from Panic Button. Graphically, it is a massive step down from the other console versions, but it makes smart concessions to ensure the gameplay shines even when played on weak hardware. It's impressive to see how solidly the title runs, even though there were quite a few obvious visual compromises. If you can stomach the high price point given that the other versions have long dropped in price, the Switch port is a solid option to play the game. I'm a huge fan of the gameplay decisions that Eternal makes to evolve the formula, and I believe Eternal is a must-have title if you're an FPS aficionado - especially if you don't have access to another game console or value portability over visual quality.
Multiplayer is, however, a significant disappointment for anyone like me who greatly enjoyed the original's implementation. All that being said, from a port perspective, Doom Eternal is a downright miracle. It somehow presents a much more complex game even better than it presented the original.
At long last the conversion of DOOM: Eternal has made its way to Switch to satisfy your itchy trigger finger and much like the last DOOM... it's pretty hard to believe this game is running (well) on a console you can take anywhere...
The combat and gyro controls make this a killer of a game and I mean that in a good way. A very good way. Everything runs better than Doom 2016 and playing Eternal on the go is truly a joy to behold, despite the obvious concessions. The main disappointment is the multiplayer element and some of the cut scenes can feel like they will never end and don’t really add anything to the game or the story. Overall this is an absolute gem of a game and is a superb port that every Switch owner should have in their collection!
I had a ton of fun with Doom Eternal, even if the story is borderline incomprehensible to seasoned Doom Slayers. I look forward to more installments in the franchise if this is the level of quality we continue to get. Those platforming sections are truly awful, though.
Doom Eternal for the Nintendo Switch is more than decent. It proves that when a company has the necessary experience, like Panic Button does, the result can satisfy even the most sceptical.

Doom Eternal is a 2020 treasure that will be remembered for a long time as the best FPS of recent years. Although the title oozes quality, it is not for everyone due to the intense gameplay and the high difficulty that may not suit all tastes. The Switch port is satisfactory enough to recommend to those who have never had contact with the series, but those who already have the game on other platforms will probably feel little inclined to play it again.

EXCELLENT - The wizards at Panic Button have once again done the impossible of porting one of the biggest and greatest shooters of 2020, maybe all time, offering Switch owners the chance to hunt demons anywhere and anytime. It’s time to rip ‘n’ tear on the go with Doom Eternal.
