Watch Dogs Legion Bloodline is a fantastic story expansion that delivers thrills, laughs and a fresh way to experience the futuristic London setting, which remains the true star of the show. This one shouldn’t be missed, especially for fans of the series who’ve been hungering for a reunion with some old friends.

Watch Dogs: Legion Bloodline tries hard to cover the weaknesses of the original game, and actually does a pretty good job, but in the process of focusing on story and character development, fails to deliver the same gameplay standards.

Watch Dogs: Legion – Bloodline is a fun blast to the past with Aiden Pearce and Wrench making a return, with both proving to be a lot of fun to play as. The missions are slick and the narrative intriguing too, with plenty of loose ends from the previous games coming full circle. It’s just a shame that there wasn’t more done to revamp the experience, with everything taking place in the same London setting and utilising the same style of missions seen in the base game. It’s hard to complain too much because Watch Dogs: Legion – Bloodline certainly offers an entertaining experience over its roughly six-hour runtime, whilst the fixed protagonists make the story feel more meaningful when compared to the base game. It’s just a shame it couldn’t do something wholly unique to make it stand out more, especially when compared to the expansions Ubisoft have already released for their other open-world titles.

At around 10 hours, Bloodline doesn’t have enough time to fix all the shortcomings of Legion but the more focused story and fully realized characters make us question if the “play as anyone” gimmick was actually a good idea or if it needed more time in the oven for it to truly shine.

If you’re a fan of the series then you’ll find Bloodline is a worthwhile addition, but if Legion is your first foray into the Watch Dogs universe then you probably won’t get as much out of it as returning players.

All in all, the Watch Dogs: Legion – Bloodline gives players who were disappointed by the original game a taste of a classic single-player campaign. It’s not as interesting as I would have hoped, but it’s still worth checking out. You have two new playable characters, some new unlockable abilities, gadgets, and a few achievements to keep you busy. If you’re a hardcore fan of the series there’s no question if you should be jumping in.

At the end of the day, it’s hard for me to recommend Watch Dogs Bloodlines when I can’t even recommend Legion. All I can say is that if you’ve already purchased Legion, then getting Bloodlines can be worth getting providing that you already like the base game.

The expansion gives me hope for future games in this franchise as it shows there’s more stories that can be told in this world, and I would gladly see more of it. If a new game does happen, I just wish it’s a new lead character, or at the very least someone already established and known to many.
