Night Reverie Reviews
Somber Pixel's Night Reverie is an adventure game that disguises a much deeper and bigger story underneath. It will hook you with simplicity and nail your emotions to the wall without apology. Definitely, an indie to consider when looking for a fresh take on gaming.
It's a serving of lite fare if you're in the mood for something that won't overly tax your brain (but still might make you feel a wee bit clever); ultimately, though, it's a lot of putting round pegs in round holes. While the pixel art is nice to look at, the text font is decidedly not. As a palette cleanser, it did the job for me, but I can't say it will linger on my mind for more than a night.
All in all, I loved Night Reverie. It’s an extremely accessible game, with its puzzles successfully walking that fine line of being clear enough to solve without getting frustrated and still providing just enough challenge to stay interesting. Their variety keeps the game feeling fresh the whole time as well. Underneath its adorable aesthetic and cute characters is a surprisingly deep story that I didn’t see coming. Night Reverie provides an experience that you won’t soon forget.
