The jump-scares in the WWI-themed survival horror sim Trenches are enough to elicit a little adrenaline, even though you know they are coming. There's also a little replay value because the clues will be scattered randomly at the start of a new game. Even so, the theme and objective can be limiting; there is not really much to do beyond finding things, and there's not much to experience except tension.
"It could be a good game, but..." - that's the thing I kept saying to myself the whole time I was running through the bloody and muddy trenches of this indie survival horror. There are interesting ideas here, but their implementation is average and sometimes even quite bad.

Trenches has a very unique storyline infused with many jumpscares and unexpected twists, with a review of 9/10 on Steam and the price only being $9.99 you can’t beat it.
Trenches is a bold first-person survival horror game that delivers chilling jump scares in a unique war-torn environment. The audio design is the real winner here, and playing the game with headphones on is a must. The visuals wear thin after one playthrough and there's not much incentive to reply this short game, but at ten bucks it offers a couple of hours of intense scares that are worth experiencing if you're a big horror buff.
I can appreciate strapping popular indie horror game templates to The Great War, but when my overriding thoughts vary from boredom to unintentional laughter then appreciation can only go so far.
