Very little is enticing about Adventure Time: Explore the Dungeon Because I DON'T KNOW! outside of the license being used, and even that isn't applied properly here. Cut the game length by half, cut the price even further, stick this in a digital shop, and you have an OK time-waster that doesn't overstay its welcome. Even then, I think most would see through the shoddy, repetitive structure that makes up the meat of this game. "Adventure Time" fans deserve far better than this.

It's just too bad that this dungeon crawler just doesn't live up to what it looks like. Maybe next time, Finn. Maybe next time.

If you're looking for a new dungeon crawler to play, Adventure Time isn't what you're looking for. Even fans of the TV series should be wary of dropping cash on this below average game.

This is one dungeon better left unexplored. Unlike what the title says, I know plenty of reasons why.

Adventure Time honestly deserves a better game than this, and WayForward can certainly do much better.  Even the soundtrack by WayForward mainstay composer Jake "Virt" Kaufman is very barebones here at best.

Adventure Time: Explore the Dungeon Because I DON'T KNOW! is not a complete failure, but it's also not the game that Adventure Time fans deserve or should expect from a developer like WayForward. While the story takes some fun turns, the gameplay is too dull and one-note to keep players interested in the long term. While multiplayer will extend the experience and provide for some laughs — characters do say some funny lines, even if they get repetitive — this title is recommended primarily for the most devoted Adventure Time fans.

It's hard to understand why such a flawed piece of work would be released without at least a major revision. Explore the Dungeon Because I DON'T KNOW! tries and fails not only at being a decent playable effort, but even at portraying a popular animation series for its fans. If anything, it provides an example of what not to do in a game.

This could have been a wonderful RPG, set in the show's array of utterly fantastic locations, quests and side-quests sending you on various journeys, with pretty much the same combat mechanic. It could have been something that celebrated Adventure Time, made use of the amazing resources it had to hand. But instead this is an insipid, limp waste of it all, and a proper shame.

Adventure Time: Explore the Dungeon Because I DON'T KNOW! does a great job of managing and working with the story, characters, and feel of the franchise, but unfortunately doesn't have the gameplay to match, especially at a $40 retail price.

Adventure Time: Explore the Dungeon Because I DON'T KNOW is a terrible excuse for a dungeon crawler with nothing to offer anyone.

WayForward's second Adventure Time game fails to marry the imagination of the Cartoon Network series with a top-down dungeon crawler, resulting in a lifeless quest that does neither the cartoon nor the genre any justice.
