Critic Reviews for Dreadnought

An often spectacular space shooter that lacks the variety and depth to justify serious investment.

Dreadnought in many ways successfully brings the World of Tanks formula to outer space with sci-fi flair, and the vertical movements of the ships add some depth. It's often fun, but if you want to advance at a reasonable pace you'll have to deal with an unreliably active PS4 player population and an XP system that requires a lot of grinding to unlock new ships.

Dreadnought is off to a good start. Whether Yager's pretty, engaging space battler has long-term legs will depend on how it grows the ship roster, and on how many people, overall, are willing to commit.

Currently only available on PlayStation 4 and Microsoft Windows, Dreadnought is a free to play game with optional packs to buy, and premium services to purchase to increase the number of rewards you receive. If you want to get away from the real world games like War Thunder and the World of series of games, give this one a try.

For what it is (a PVP/PVE ship battle arena shooter), Dreadnought hits all the right notes for a co-op focused frag fest set in a colonial starship setting.

Dreadnought's gameplay is such a powerful experience, and it is a shame that the current population on PlayStation 4 is not what the game deserves. Matchmaking can take anywhere from 5-10 minutes, and even then, I've never had a full 5-on-5 player match without at least one AI controlled ship. Hopefully, the developers can help alleviate the grind at the higher tiers, and look to adjust how the customization system works, opening up purchased items across all classes.

I have yet to find another free-to-play game that is so fair to the player not spending any money on it.
