It's still fun and unique, but for a definitive edition, it's still lacking polished.

How to Survive: Storm Warning Edition may not have been the most expected game to come across to the Xbox One, but it's one that fans of this genre type should enjoy. While the story is mostly brushed over, and some frustrating encounters with the enemies can occur, the crafting and survival system that the game is based around is very strong and expansive. The inclusion of all of the game's previous DLCs will also give players a reason to come back, whether on their own or with a friend.

Despite a wonderful premise, How To Survive: Storm Warning Edition is hampered by a forgettable plot and a lacklustre combat engine.

It has a good story, good gameplay, a friendly interface, and a very unique building system. If zombies and open world games are your thing, hurry and grab your copy off Games with Gold before it disappears at the end of August.

How to Survive: Storm Warning has its fair share of problems and doesn't really contain that much content, yet credit should be given to developer EKO Software. It has attempted something different to make its game stand out in a genre that is already extremely saturated. It controls well and is fairly enjoyable to play, but even after just a few hours, it feels like there is nothing left to do.

As far as isometric games go, EKO Software's title is one of the better ones out there. Sure, it may be slightly shallow in certain departments, but what it lacks, it more than makes up for in an excellent co-op mode and an enticing amount of replay value. Definitely one to try out.

Make no mistake, this is a content bundle rather than a generational upgrade, but that's sort of okay. How To Survive: Storm Warning Edition presents a solid content package, but it is disappointing that technical hiccups of last year's version still remain. Still, if you're looking for some pick-up-and-play, zombie survival action, this is a pretty good shout, and the new modes are ace.
