Hello Kitty Island Adventure is cute and colorful, but the mindless tasks and artificially slow pace of its daily progression make it suited for little more than filling up the dull moments of daily life.
Hello Kitty Island Adventure proves an innovative entry into the social sim genre. While borrowing from multiple powerhouse games, it brings a fresh experience that is likely to subvert the expectations of any Animal Crossing expats looking for their next cosy fix.

The game's childish appearance hides plenty of depth, including an engaging world and story that makes you want to reach the bottom of it without stressing out about leveling up or grinding unlocks instead of focusing on the game itself.
All in all, Hello Kitty Island Adventure will be a must play for Sanrio fans due to its great adaption of the source material, but there's also plenty here for fans of casual gamers to enjoy. Although lacking in some areas, its still a good addition to any cosy gamer's collection.
While it may not be worth the switch for players who have been putting in time on the mobile version, given the lack of cross-save, those who are just now looking to get into Hello Kitty Island Adventure will not be disappointed.
In a saturated market with games clambering to echo the soul of Animal Crossing, Hello Kitty Island Adventure has finally grabbed that baton and ran with it. It ticks every box in what I want from this genre, chucking every possible game mechanic at the player to play around with so there's never a dull moment, and probably won't be for quite a while. My only gripe is that I had to stop playing it in order to write this review!
Hello Kitty Island Adventure remains one of the more charming cozy games out there, and may find a snug home with PS5 owners.
