Critic Reviews for OMEGA 6 The Triangle Stars

Omega 6: The Triangle Stars is a small game from a big talent. It's a bit too simplistic at times, lacking any taxing challenges beyond having enough credits and finding the right screen at the right time. However, the comedy is light, the action is breezy, and the combat system is deliberately accessible. Old-fashioned but frequently nodding to newer genre entries, it's a well-designed passion project from an industry legend.

If it wasn’t for the tortuous combat I probably would’ve loved Omega 6: The Triangle Stars. It’s weird, it’s funny as heck, and it has ample Nintendo charm despite not being a Nintendo game.

It isn’t the most dramatic story, but it made me feel like a child playing a new mysterious game on SNES again. The Triangle Stars is a place I enjoyed visiting and hassling the locals was always fun. Thanks to the music, text, and imagery, Omega 6 felt like I was hanging out in a real place for a fleeting moment.

While progression can stutter somewhat along the way if you can't quite figure out exactly what it is the game wants you to do, the vast majority of your adventure is fun and endearing. While combat lets down the experience somewhat it can generally be powered through with efficient use of your bonsai tree. The rest of Omega 6 The Triangle Stars is a wonderfully stylized adventure that is certainly worth taking.

Omega 6 The Triangle Stars is an interesting title that has a fun story and unique characters that make for a stellar adventure full of puzzles and mystery, and some obscure rock, paper, scissors combat that starts fun but slowly turns into a chore that is full of random shenanigans.
