Skies Above

Critic Reviews for Skies Above
Skies Above provides some pure and simple arcade action fun. It looks nice, has a straightforward (albeit quite unique) premise, features simple gameplay mechanics, and challenges the player to keep pushing further than the last time.
The core gameplay of Skies Above is a ton of fun but the repetition of it all will certainly make it wear thin after only a few hearty attempts. đ
Skies Above is another strong showing from publisher Flynnâs Arcade, and perhaps one of their most refined yet. They sure know how to pick their developers. It blends arcade-style immediacy with roguelike depth, all wrapped in a charming and heartfelt package. Youâll come for the satisfying aerial combat, but youâll stay because you want to protect your flying space whale. Ideal for short sessions but loaded with enough progression to keep you playing for the long haul, Skies Above is absolutely worth your time, especially if youâre a fan of quick-fire roguelikes with a unique twist.
Skies Above is a beautifully crafted roguelike with a lot of heart and some well-thought-out mechanics. Each run feels meaningful, and with multiple progression systems, thereâs always something new to unlock. That said, I never felt like the upgrades let me truly customize how I playedâmost of them just made me stronger, not different. Still, the game is a lot of fun, and it kept pulling me back in for just one more run.
