Critic Reviews for Galactic Civilizations III: Mercenaries

Mercenaries is a disappointing expansion to last year's Galactic Civilizations III that limits your freedom on the battlefield.

This expansion for Galactic Civilizations III is a solid gameplay update that introduces the ability to buy merc ships, overall adding to the long war space battles that the base game introduced.

In summary, if you like GalCiv3, you will like this expansion.  The primary problem with it is simply the lack of new material.  Other than the Bazaar, this has the feeling of a well-done couple of DLCs.  Not really worth the 20 bucks except for fans of the series.

Playing against other players in Galactic Civilizations 3: Mercenaries offers far more bang for your buck as far as this DLC goes. The AI does not seem to utilise the expansion, whereas with humans it can indeed be a very intense rush for the good ships. It will feel slightly cheap to those just beating on computers, though.
