Critic Reviews for SEGA 3D Classics Collection
Some of the best emulation work ever undertaken, it’s just a pity it’s been wasted on such a miserable collection of decidedly non-classic games.
SEGA 3D Classics Collection a great effort in the annals of archiving game history, but it doesn't exist in a vacuum, and anyone who's already dropped $40-50 on the bulk of the games on this cart may not be so keen to spend another $30 on three titles of wildly varying quality. Still, Maze Walker may not be much fun, but it's never looked this nice. Of course, if you haven't already picked up these games individually, there's no question — this is a must-have compilation.
It’s a nice package, and the 3D is proof that classic titles from what I consider the golden era of gaming can pop fantastically well on the 3DS. Next time, hopefully the selection can vary more broadly, making the package both worthy of a full price tag and hours of investment instead of a burst of nostalgia and the question of why my wallet feels lighter than it should.
Sega 3D Classics Collection is an uneven package, but nothing outside of Altered Beast is what I would consider a "bad game." With several useful features and 3D effects that actually have effort put into them, it was a joy to play some of these for the first time, while reliving some great memories from others. Since the games that are available on 3DS already are generally priced at $6 each, nabbing 10 titles for $30 with a physical box and some extras isn't a raw deal.
A great compilation that offers 9 awesome classics, although only 7 of them have something 'special'. Altered Beast & Thunder Blade are the low points on this compilation.

SEGA 3D Classics Collection is a great value package, full of worthy games that look and play wonderfully on the 3DS.
Sega 3D Classics Collection is a fantastic presentation of mostly mediocre games, like a beautifully shot and directed movie featuring David Duchovny in its leading role.
This is a tough bundle to give a solid “Yes” too because, as much as I loved most of the individual games and lost classics, I’m wondering how much I will be going back to it after writing this review. Having a legitimate Puyo Puyo game forever installed on my Nintendo 3DS is a plus, but replaying arcade games after a round or two has never been my thing.
