Ghost 1.0 Reviews
Ghost 1.0 is a lighthearted Metroidvania that adapts a sprawling sci-fi setting with some really creative takes on the genre. Even though it originally released on PC two years ago, it still manages to fit right into the Switch's growing library of quality sprite-based action adventures. If you're looking for a less somber journey after the harrowing depths of Hollow Knight, you could do far worse than Ghost 1.0 as long as the forgettable story and cringe-inducing humor aren't too off-putting..
Ghost 1.0 has the heart of a beloved project and the soul of the best Metroidvania games in the industry. Despite its few quirks, the balance between accessibility and challenge, coupled with intriguing writing makes Ghost 1.0 a worthy pickup for even those with some curiosity about the game.
Francisco returns on the scene with another metroidvania, adding, in order to renew the genre, rogue-like elements. The result is satisfying but imperfect, especially as regards the balance. It represents a shooter inspired exponent of the genre, with a slight irony that lies underneath and involves the player. If youre a fan, youd better have a look at it.

A fun blend of futuristic and retro, with good game mechanics and a strong sense of nerd humour.
Ghost 1.0 is a great game with a great visual style and interesting story and characters, that has moments of huge frustration because of the insane difficulty increases.
Ghost 1.0 is an exciting action game with a robust Metroidvania world to explore.
At the end of the day, the game is just a purely solid Metroidvania: outside of the titular mechanic, it won’t do much to reinvent the wheel, just stick to solid traditions, but either way, you’ll have plenty of fun whichever mode you choose to play the game, and honestly? I ultimately found this to be far more engaging than Unepic, which is a lot harder for old me to come back to. And that says quite a lot about this game’s quality, if it can outdo the nostalgic game made to be a nostalgic throwback to begin with: double nostalgia!
Overall, Ghost 1.0 is a remarkable Metroid-style game that drips with creativity. Strong plot, stronger narrative, a memorable cast, and extraordinary aesthetics allow Ghost 1.0 to stand up to the best the genre can offer. The few flaws in gameplay in regards to difficulty and mechanics do stand out because of how much they contrast with the rest of the game’s polish. The frustration in those moments is real and can’t be ignored. Having said that, Ghost 1.0 will please any fan of the Metroid and the Metroidvania genres, as well as most casual players looking for a solid game full of mystery and action.
Gosht 1.0 is an exercise in professionalism. A very enjoyable product that has very nice and funny moments, that will have many hours glued to the screen. But above all, it is a serious game, a game that takes fun, evolving, engaging the player very seriously, and that does it really well, and despite everything, this is going to be fun. A great work that we cannot fail to recommend. Congratulations to Fran for this fantastic job.

There’s no shortage of Metroidvania games on the Nintendo Switch. Ghost 1.0 is fun to explore, features some great music, and has some memorable weapon upgrades. However, the boring environments, mediocre story, and senseless kill rooms hold it back form being something truly special.
