Slayaway Camp is a brilliant and funny block-sliding puzzle game that’s drenched in good-humored gore.
An inventive take on the sliding block puzzle genre, it all just depends on how quickly you get tired of slaughter.
I had a blast playing through Slayaway Camp. A simple puzzle game that lets me play through some of my favorite horror movies and franchises. The blocky graphics have a great charm to them even though it sometimes gets in the way of the kill animations.
Slayaway Camp hits checks all the boxes and will slash its way into your heart.
Slayaway Camp is a gruesome puzzle game that calls back to the classic 80's slasher movies in every possible way.
Slayaway Camp is a simple puzzle game that through evolving mechanics becomes a difficult and satisfying experience. It revels in both the ludicrous and outlandishly fun things that come from its original genre while making fun of its stupidities.
There's something truly special about Slayaway Camp. What could have been a one-note gag instead manages to be a hilarious, charming, and ingenious puzzle game. Actually stopping to write this review was incredibly difficult; the game is just that addicting. There's something new around each corner, with numerous unlockables and dozens of levels. Plus, new content is still being added, with the developers demonstrating some true passion for the project. It may be one-way only, but a trip to Slayaway Camp should not be missed.
Although the game could use a bit of polish around its UI framework, a ton of thought was put into countless popular culture references and cubed graphics. If you're looking for a gorefest though, this isn't the place to find one.
In the end I had an absolute blast with Slayaway Camp and would heartily recommend it to anyone who is either a fan of great puzzle games or 80s horror movies… if you like both you’re truly in for a treat. The violence in voxel form is utterly comical, the callbacks to horror icons and some of their great kills are wonderful, and the puzzles themselves are thoroughly challenging. Since it also includes every bit of content released for the game to date, all in one, on every level it is a killer deal.
Slayaway Camp does exactly what it sets out to do: it makes you giggle and provides a vast series of fun logic puzzles. Its creativity, charm, and clear love for this specific kind of nostalgic film subculture make it worth playing for even the puzzle-game averse.
The name of Slayaway Camp might be a bit on the nose with what goes on there, but this isn’t a movie, it’s a game – a gory and hilarious game. It features a classic horror movie visual style in voxel form, and sliding puzzle gameplay which works to its benefit. Slayaway Camp has been out for a while, and deserves a look due to its well-thought out puzzles and atmosphere that are like no other.
