This isn’t the expansion or the patch to convince those who weren’t already convinced by what Stellaris has to offer, but it brings plenty of alterations and additions for those already on board.

It’s strange to be slightly disappointed with Leviathans despite spending entire days completely immersed in Stellaris, yet again. It’s not bad DLC, it’s just mostly invisible for large portions of the game.

If you're going to charge big for DLC, you better deliver big. Leviathans has content, but it's locked behind dozens of hours of standard playthrough. It does make small, indiscernible improvements to the base game but you can, and should, wait for a sale and pick it up then.

The Leviathans DLC is in my opinion an absolute must for Stellaris players. The content offered is high quality and produces some great in game experiences. The additions add strategic depth to the overall game and frankly, I couldn’t see anyone going back after playing this.

Leviathans doesn't exactly shake up the game, but it fixes a few balances issues and adds enough variety for a few extra runthroughs.

Leviathans offers some nice new features, but does not add enough worthwhile content to Stellaris to recommend purchasing alone or to justify the price tag.

Leviathans is a DLC pack that really adds some meat and bone to Stellaris. It attempts to add to the feeling of discovery the player gets when first reaching out for the stars by rewarding them with the dying remnants of old empires and the challenges of titantic other-wordly life.

Stellaris is great for a play or two, but the content simply lacks the replayability. The Leviathans DLC fixes some of the issues of content being light in the midgame, but does nothing to remove the bog that inevitably comes mid to late game. As fun as a single play is, even a grind through the later portion of the campaign shows enough that little changes the player can make, such as the empire customisation or content added in the DLC, do nothing. For fans of Stellaris, the DLC will be pretty interesting, but those who have side-lined it are not going to be lured back by this.

Stellaris: Leviathans Story Pack is a substantial, reasonably priced piece of DLC that no fan of the game will want to miss. It doesn't perfectly capitalize on every opportunity, and isn't perfectly balanced, but it's still a no-brainer for fans of the game.
