Switch - or die trying
Top Critic Average
Switch – Or Die Trying is truly a platformer that was made for the diehard fans of the genre.
The main problem with Switch - Or Die Trying is that it has clever ideas, but doesn't take advantage of them. Game mechanics, when they're not fully explored, are just gimmicks. If switching is integral, then it needs to have a presence in the entirety of the game, not just a portion. Maybe the switch could have more abilities, such as powering fans that push the hero where he needs to go. Ghosts could chase him, depending on whether he's a big I or a little i. This puzzle-platformer has a lot of untapped potential, and that's a shame.
While ultimately the switching mechanic is just a clever disguise for double jumps, I enjoyed Switch or Die Trying.
This is up there with some of the best puzzle platform games I have played, you will be taken on a roller coaster of emotions and when you finally crack the level that you have been struggling on the sheer relief and sense of achievement is worth all the swearing and hair pulling it caused you. At no point did I not want to carry on playing, no matter how difficult it got and I would recommend this to fans of the genre and also those who are new to it.
Switch – or die trying is likely to remain hidden among the vast treasure trove of good games on Steam, but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t seek it out and play it!
Switch - or Die Trying is a simple platformer that shines at times but doesn’t really do anything to help it stand out.
Switch - or die tryining is an interesting 2D platform that does not introduce anything extremely special, but thanks to its minimalist style it can fit well into the gaming market, offering a simple game in the mechanics but not easy!
