I have to be honest, I was going to score this game much worse based on performance alone. It really was that bad and at times it was almost like watching a slideshow. But in its now fixed state, it’s hard to pick many issues I had with the game to be brutally honest. It won’t be the most exciting game you’re ever going to play but it is well worth its five-hour playthrough. I’m not fully convinced that the style of game will suit everybody and I think it is quite a divisive game, but I would urge anybody to give this a try, because if it clicks with you it can easily be one of your favourite games of this year. There aren’t many games like this around and that needs to be changed.

The Sexy Brutale is an intriguing game with good ideas and an incredible atmosphere. It is well worth your time, as long as you don't play it on the Nintendo Switch. Without the technical issues, the game would've garnered a much higher score, but this port struggles at every turn and is best left alone.

The Sexy Brutale is a wonderful murder-mystery experience that features a great story and cast of characters. Unfortunately, the dreadful frame rates, long load times, and poor optimization on the Switch make this hard to recommend unless you plan on playing it on another platform.

The Sexy Brutale is original, while not entirely unique, but it makes such an interesting combination of its elements that it's impossible not to feel its allure. It could use less trial and error to solve its puzzles and there are a bit too many moments when the game freezes but this experience is enough to put a malicious smile on many players' lips.

The Sexy Brutale is such a neat game and I really enjoyed my time with it. There's so many references to other games and like most murder mysteries, I felt a strong need to keep playing and uncover the truth of what was going on. It's too bad that the Nintendo Switch port suffers from horrible framerate issues. I'm really hoping the developers will make a patch for this soon because TSB is so awesome in every other aspect.

The Sexy Brutale is substantially a good game, but the Switch version has many technical problems: instable frame rate, very long loading times and some major bugs are only a few number of the issues that prevent the game from reaching a higher score.

Let down only by slowdown, The Sexy Brutale is a load of fun. It's got that Scooby-Doo-like magic to it, that sense of achievement when you solve the puzzles and save the day. Atmosphere is good, music is good, as is innovation - without the slowdown, it would be perfect.

As short-lived as the story is, The Sexy Brutale is still a standout murder mystery title. The stimulating 3D puzzle and adventure elements makes it one of the best within its genre. The chosen theme and locale is also the exact type of setting you want for a title built on intrigue, murder and mystery. If you're more of a shoot first, ask questions later sort of player, this might not be for you, but for the type of person who enjoys a slower-paced but equally as rewarding game experience, this is a murder mystery worth looking into.

"Close to perfect murder mystery if it didn't suffer from so many technical issues."

If you can put up with the choppy frame rates and lengthy load times, The Sexy Brutale is a fun, worthwhile experience. The highs are high, but then the game chugs or hitches during a long load. Those ups and downs are present from beginning to end. No matter what though, I definitely recommend this game as something to be tried, just maybe not this particular version.

I had a lot of fun with The Sexy Brutale. It's a short game that does something interesting by giving us a “Groundhog Day” style release where you replay the story from different perspectives as you use the information you gather to save all victims. Overall, you're looking at around 6-9 hours to 100% the game before you can add a new Platinum trophy to your collection. I highly recommend you get this charming and fun release on PS4 so that you too can explore what The Sexy Brutale has to offer.

In the end, The Sexy Brutale is a fascinating murder mystery game. The indirect methods that are used to obtain clues and solve each murder are different from other games in the genre. Though you may be able to stumble upon the solution for a murder or two via dumb luck, the game rewards you for careful observation to the audio and visuals. If you can overcome the keyboard/mouse controls in lieu of a control pad, you'll find The Sexy Brutale to be a game that genre fans need to check out.

The Sexy Brutale is a very nice and original adventure game, that makes good use of a time loop in its core gameplay.

The Sexy Brutale is bad. If monotony is thrilling to you, then buy this game. I give them credit for trying something knew, but am disappointed how it turned out. The beautiful environments loose their "wow" factor the 10th time you have to go through them.

The Sexy Brutale is a delectable slice of murder and mystery. The exquisite art design, twisted puzzles, and excellent audio design combines to create a truly memorable experience. The unique setting and thoughtful tale will remain in the memory long after the case has been closed.

I was initially drawn to The Sexy Brutale after seeing a short clip of the first mission being played through. The music, the humour, and the look of the game were very alluring, enough to make me want to give it a crack. While there were a couple of design and gameplay decisions that bugged me and a few expectations that weren’t quite fulfilled, the game is still a lot of fun for the short time that it lasts. The biggest takeaway was its soundtrack and the way they made it an integral part of the gameplay and plot. The combination of the music and sound direction really made the events of the game pop, maintaining my interest and story consistency at the same time. I’ll be keeping an eye out for future works from Cavalier and Tequila Works if this is the sort of thing one can expect from them.

The Sexy Brutale nods back to ancient tradition while wrapped in the trappings of the 20th century, taking notes from some of the best adventure games there have been. At the same time, it looks forwards, unwinding to its own tempo, creating a game that feels distinct from any other.

Groundhog Day meets Cluedo in the fascinating murder-mystery game, The Sexy Brutale. At times charming and other times poignant, this spin on the classic “whodunnit” formula in a mansion features an interesting time travel mechanic as well as a likeable cast of characters. The game and puzzles are admittedly linear and repeating time can get, well, repetitive at times. Overall, however, The Sexy Brutale is a fun murder-mystery romp, regardless of what time it is.
