A very deep RPG and Tower Defense experience; Lock's Quest is a great "survivor" of the DS ages. Good game, great length and a very old style-pixel style.

I wanted to like Lock's Quest. For a fan of strategy, RPG, and puzzles Lock's Quest could have been one of those titles that brought the three together properly. Nine years ago on the DS, it probably did it fairly well, but this port has a number of issues that could do with addressing. The camera and lack of explanation for your abilities are the most glaring ones, and once you settle into a tactical groove early on, things soon become dull. Lock's Quest is a game that had potential, but it feels squandered.

Overall, this remaster is a decent title, though unfortunately is not a remaster that was wanted or memorable

The game is inoffensive enough and certainly a value proposition to those nostalgic for a Lock's Quest remaster. Frustratingly, a commitment to PC centric controls could have given a far more pleasant play experience. However, there lies more insidious issues beneath the varnish of this remaster.

Lock's Quest is a charming tower defense game with a strategic combat system. It features gorgeously animated 16-bit art style and offers plenty of challenge for those who love a good tower defense games. However despite being a remaster, it is not free from its issues.

Lock's Quest is definitely a game worthy of bringing back from obscurity but this version contains performance issues that frequently make it tough to enjoy.

For newcomers, Lock's Quest is a solid tower defense/strategy/RPG/action game that should merit your attention. If the old school aesthetic doesn't appeal then well, it's all over this game so you may not have the wherewithal to dig and see what else this game has to offer. At times it's tough as balls and will certainly test your skills, however the lengthy campaign ensures you get enough bang here for your buck.
