Critic Reviews for I and Me

I and Me stands out due to the fact that the Switch library doesn't have too many puzzlers right now. However, a pointless story, frustrating mechanics, and disappointing length mar a game with lofty ambitious.

I and Me is good and it could certainly be better if it maximized its assets. Its gameplay is fun and interesting and its audiovisual environment fits well with the game but the feeling of repetitiveness and the level of challenge (which could be higher) end up causing some harm to what is overall an enjoyable experience.

I and Me looks like a beautifully hand-drawn game that controls quite well. Its fluid movement makes navigating the stages easy, with no mechanical drawbacks. However, the promise of a deep and meaningful story is hurt by the hard-to-read cursive font used to present all the narration, thus losing all the appeal of what is supposed to feel like a haunting tale. Beyond that, though, the stages are pretty easy to figure out and complete, though playing around with the four main mechanics introduced with each new season is fun in itself, and allowing for experimentation strengthens them. The hints that the game offers up actually overstep their mark, and instead they solve the puzzle entirely; however, they hardly need to be used, as I and Me rarely lifts the difficulty metre at all.

In a world plagued by stripped-back indie experiences grasping to evoke an element of nostalgia, I can at least praise I and Me for attempting something wholly original for the puzzle/platforming genre. But what could have been a mighty stride forward disappointingly feels more like a half step.

With it being such a simple game I thought it might be good for kids but my own, both below the age of 7, had lost interest after the 4th level. The best recommendation I can give you is to watch some levels on YouTube before spending any money on this game, since what you see is what you get.

I And ME is a perfect fit for the Nintendo Switch since it's easy to pick up and play and it is very fun on the TV, on the console's handheld mode or in tabletop mode. It's not a very long game, but it's definitely a fun one from start to finish, so be sure to pick it up!

I and Me is a fun puzzle platformer that will keep you busy for a handful of hours as you try to solve its little over 90 puzzles. It's clever gameplay mechanic makes it feel fresh and welcoming on the Nintendo Switch, and being able to play at home or on the go and hitting a button to suspend the action so that you can continue playing when possible and being back in the game in a couple of seconds make this an excellent pick up and play option for the Switch.

I and Me has a solid premise for a puzzle platformer but the limited amount of fun to be had makes it a somewhat disappointing game.
