Legends of Eisenwald is a tactical RPG that gets fast turn-based tactical combat right, though it fumbles the story.

Legends of Eisenwald is a slightly rough-hewn romp through Germanic legend that's engaging and entertaining despite its lack of depth.

Atmosphere and a good story make the tactical RPG Legends of Eisenwald a compelling trip back to Germany in the Middle Ages.

Legends of Eisenwald's main strength is in its story and world building. Though the combat is non-innovative and not very compelling, the low-fantasy theme, abundance of content, and well-built Machiavellian world make this game worth playing if you can get it on sale.

Legends of Eisenwald would have been an incredibly good game had it been made fifteen years ago. The combat mechanics are dated and lack the depth that we see in modern days, whereas the introduction to the mechanics and the exposition of the story are neglectful and unentertaining when we frame it in modern-day game storytelling. It's not all vicennial-old trends, but what is not isn't significant enough to make a hit.
