Don't Starve: Nintendo Switch Edition is an extremely meaty and punishing experience that always keeps you on your toes. The open ended, tough as nails gameplay isn't for everyone - particularly in its repetition - but it can be quite addictive once things click. A distinct visual style, countless hours of randomized gameplay, and an open ended nature that favors boldness combine to make this an easy suggestion. If you still haven't gotten around to playing Don't Starve, this is one of the best versions you can get.

Half a decade's worth of expansions deliver a dizzying array of features but this stylish survival game still frustrates as much as it entertains.

Dark, whimsical, and genuinely challenging, with a rewarding difficulty curve, Don't Starve is a worthy addition to the Nintendo Switch's library.

Having the full experience of Don’t Starve on the move is wonderful and the day/night cycle is just the right length to hop on and play during a break in your real life. As survival games go, this is one of the best you will find for the Switch.

Klei Entertainment is willingly neglecting to take you by the hand through your journey to stay alive. Willing to forgive the game for its bugs and lack of multiplayer, I enjoyed the tough challenge and will pick it up again. But beware: you will live to die in this game. Sometimes, you get the feeling this game will slap you in the face more than it is welcomed to do, so if you cannot keep up with that – keep your hands off it. And if you could not resist and picked it up, you got plenty of guides or walkthroughs on the internet to help you since the fanbase of this interactive gothic pop-up book style game is respectable. Happy dying, I mean... uhm, surviving, everyone!
