Rival Megagun Reviews
A Mediocre vertical shooter with an unimpressive twist.
Rival Megagun takes the old and mostly forgotten "Versus Shoot'em Up" genre, adds a lot of unique ideas to it, and the end result is a game that is not only accessible for newcomers, but also challenging for veterans at the same time. It's not flawless, but none of those flaws can decrease the amount of fun you can have by playing it.

Rival Megagun is a great indie and nostalgic game to enjoy playing with your friend or family member. Graphics are eye-catching and the gameplay is totally responsive.

The online leaderboards and collectable cards add some long-term play, too. However, the lack of players online, the random unlocks, and the pedestrian shoot-‘em-up stages leave a lot to be desired. Some may find good value here, but I can't wholeheartedly recommend Rival Megagun to a general Switch audience.
Rival Megagun added a competitive touch that made it unique in a genre I've never thought I'd enjoy in 2018.

Rival Megagun offers a fast and shallow single-player campaign. Unfortunately, the offline mode offers nothing that causes the player to stick to it. In contrast, online and local Versus mode significantly expand the fun of the title, which will depend on the game's success and an active online community.

Rival Megagun is absolutely one of the best shoot'em up in recent generations specially if you play it co-op, because it's the way that you see all potential of this game. Although Rival Megagun is not your game if you are looking for a deep story and narrating or best graphics, but it brings you a lot of fun and joy when playing it solo or co-op with friends. Rival Megagun is a game that worth your time to try.

Rival Megagun deftly changes up the shmup formula while effortlessly nailing the basics. PVP is a game changer, and while more characters and stages would be welcome, what is here provides a compelling competitive challenge that places an emphasis on both defense and offense.
If the concept of a competitive shoot 'em up appeals to you then Rival Megagun is definitely a solid choice.
Games like Twinkle Star Sprites occupied a space within the shooter genre that doesn’t get a whole lot of attention – the competitive shooter. Those games stood out because they dared to be different and put a weird spin on the genre and I always wondered why more developers didn’t try and expand on the ideas that game brought to the table. Rival Megagun seems to do just that. It took elements from it and delivers a package that is not only fun, but offers something you don’t often see. For $14.99, some may say that the game is lacking in content, but personally it was so much fun to play, I felt it worth the price of admission. This is the kind of game I can come back to or would want to show my friends because I can see us having a ton of fun playing.
