Angry Video Game Nerd Adventures Reviews
Only masochists and diehard fans of the Nerd's Internet series need apply
Angry Video Game Nerd Adventures is not a cowa-fucking-piece-of-dog-shit, that's for certain!
All in all, Angry Video Game Nerd Adventures is a fun throwback to the NES days, but with more violence and toilet humor. Fans of the Nerd will lap it up, and its intense level of difficulty certainly provides a challenging distraction for a couple of hours, but at its current price point you may want to wait until it inevitably goes on sale.
Taking a trip back to the past, Angry Video Game Nerd Adventures is a love letter to old school gamers, while paying tribute to many of the elements that have haunted the Nerd over the years.
While it isn't a platforming masterpiece, it is quite good and feels like a complete game instead of a cash-in. If you do enjoy the series, that should definitely bump AVGN Adventures up on your priority list, because this is a great representation. Whether the Nerd has guided you there before or not, this game's offer to take you back to the past is one you should at least consider.
If you make a living covering awful games, it's either going to be your dream or your nightmare to make a game so bad you can review it on your own show. When it comes to Angry Video Game Nerd Adventures, it's clear that those involved have the respect for what makes a game enjoyable to put forth a good product while still celebrating the junk. It suffers from some rehashing, and not everyone will find the humour up their alley, but fans of AVGN who also don't mind a good platforming struggle shouldn't hesitate to pick this one up.
Angry Video Game Nerd Adventures is a 2D platformer with a retro game style. The title tries really hard to capture the difficulty of old NES games, as well as the character of the Angry Video Game Nerd. While the graphics, music, and controls are all fantastic, it falls a little short in the level design, story, and humour.
It's a fun, old-school game that brings back fun memories of similar NES games. Disabling Miiverse screenshots is pretty lame, and sometimes the game's difficulty is a bit much, but those are just minor problems. Angry Video Game Nerd Adventures is another fun retro-inspired title that's definitely worth a look if you're looking for a challenging platformer on the eShop.
Fans of the Angry Video Game Nerd will happily purchase this mixed bag of nerd-stalgia and they won't be disappointed.
