Critic Reviews for Hexagroove: Tactical DJ
Chalk down Hexagroove: Tactical DJ as one of the year's biggest surprises. A wholly unique take on the rhythm genre, it's challenging and enormously rewarding. The feeling of creating your own music for a virtual crowd to respond to is addicting, and while the multiplayer ultimately offers very little to the package, the single-player and the seemingly endless Freestyle mode will have you coming back to best those scores again and again. This is definitely one for headphones or a very loudspeaker system, and a must for rhythm action fans.
Hexagroove: Tactical DJ may take just a little time to explore, but I found it super engaging. This music game requires you to think about every decision you make, and teaches you how you can play the virtual crowd.
Hexagroove is a great game for people who love music and who want to create amazing melodies. I enjoyed the rhythm mini-games most of all, which leads me to believe I may not be the target audience, but I can still very much appreciate everything it sets out to do.
While not everything clicks and it feels like you need to read a user manual worth of instructions, it makes for a unique experience
As a fan of the rhythm genre, I was hopeful to play something new with Hexagroove: Tactical DJ. The problem is the game is a confusing mess where you never really know what you’re doing.
