For the most part, R.B.I. Baseball 20 is the best the series has been in a lot of areas–even the soundtrack is better this year!

RBI Baseball 20 for Nintendo Switch provides realistic gameplay mechanics with pretty decent visuals. It's an engaging experience with a few bumps here and there.

With the entire sports world at a complete standstill, people are looking for any way possible to quench the thirst for action. RBI Baseball 20 attempts to give players that escape, but it’s left striking out.

If you don't have a PS4, or simply are tired of what MLB The Show has to offer, I would suggest trying to play RBI Baseball 20 somehow before you buy it. If you decide to buy it on blind faith, I think you will find a fun game of baseball.

RBI Baseball 20 feels like it’s forcing itself in a position where it wants to be a middle ground between a simulation game like The Show series and an arcade experience like Mario Super Sluggers. Because of that, I feel like there could be so much more done with it. The game is still fun for the casual fan. Unfortunately, it needs to have more actual “arcade-like” aspects if it wants to become a truly great game.

When we didn't have many options for baseball games on Switch, I put way more time into RBI Baseball than would be considered sane. But with the arcade realm owned by the two Super Mega Baseball games and the Arcade Archives, and the best in the business arriving next year, RBI Baseball is probably going to end up as a talking head on a team's postgame show.

With coronavirus taking real-world sports from us, people may look to games to satisfy their fandom. Unfortunately, RBI Baseball 20 is responsible for its own plague of issues.
