Fortnitemares is back for another season of spooky cosmetics and events in Epic's ever-popular Fortnite, and this year's version of the event brings several changes.

Fortnitemares 2020: Midas' Revenge features the golden king front and center, and he's back to upend the peaceful (okay, maybe not peaceful) existence of the Fortnite island. Midas was last seen blowing up the Agency in a failed attempt to control the storm, but he's back with his Henchmen to take over that space once more.

After being eliminated in Solo, Duos, or Squads, players can return to battle as a Shadow in Nitemare Royale. This allows defeated players to possess the map in various ways, like taking control of vehicles as a ghost.

New Halloween weapons and items can be found as well, a Pumpkin Rocket Launcher, the Fiend Hunter Crossbow, a Witch Broom vehicle, and you can employ a new invention by Midas. "The Shadows were even kind enough to bring candy as well," said Epic Games in a blog post.

New cosmetics and accessories can be unlocked by way of new Fortnitemares challenges. Completing them will earn players items such as Midas’ Shadow Wrap, the Smash O’-Lantern Pickaxe, Bobo Back Bling, and more.

In the Item Shop, the new character skin Party Trooper makes for a great Halloween party outfit, with its glow-stick color palette decorating a would-be standard skeleton costume. It's meant to pair nicely with the next Party Royale concert taking place at 9 pm Eastern on Halloween night, October 31. J Balvin will be hosting the "Afterlife Party"  with re-broadcasts to air over subsequent days.

Fortnitemares will run from today through November 3, so if you want those limited-time rewards and challenges, you've about two weeks to get them done. Of course, this isn't the only Halloween event to spend your time on, so use it wisely.
