The video game industry has a budget problem. Anybody who is even slightly familiar with AAA games development should hardly be shocked by such a proclamation; costs have gotten thoroughly out of hand. It's especially true within the realm of certain sequels under Sony's PlayStation catalog. Marvel's Spider-Man was a $90 million endeavour, whereas its sequel was reportedly built to the tune of $300 million.
Ballooning sequel budgets are, thus, a very real concern... and one which Sucker Punch appears to have circumvented when crafting their upcoming follow-up to 2020's Ghost of Tsushima. Indeed, Ghost of Yotei's own price tag might just be - given historic precedent, and with the understanding that all these splashy AAA titles cost an arm and a leg - not too bad, after all.
