The console wars aren’t what they used to be, with some previously-exclusive titles ultimately making their way to other systems. Nonetheless, fans of Sony, Microsoft, or Nintendo do still enjoy pointing out the successes and popularity of their preferred consoles from time to time.
As reported by GameSpot, a new study has emerged from Ampere Games Analytics that looks into gamers’ habits in August 2025, and it’s a mixed bag for Microsoft and Xbox in particular.
The data shows that, in terms of the average amount of games each player indulged in last month, PlayStation is quite far behind, at 3.7. For Xbox, it’s 5.7. Meanwhile, Steam sits comfortably in the middle at 4.5.
Armed with absolutely no other information at all, you might conclude that there are more games on Xbox than Sony’s rival. Of course, there’s one very important factor to consider: Game Pass.
