PlayStation Prices Hiked Yet Again Due to Economic "Pressures" | TechRaptor

Sony has raised the prices of all three of its main PlayStation 5 console variants once again, pointing to "continued pressures in the global economic landscape" as the reason this time around.

As revealed in a PlayStation Blog post, the price of the core PS5 console will be jumping by $100, so the new price you'll pay for it will be $649.99. The Digital Edition will now come in at $599.99, while the Pro will cost a staggering $899.99. I feel like that cost is going to be even harder to justify now.

Naturally, these price increases also apply to other regions like the UK and Europe, with the differences being proportionate based on those regions' currencies. Sony says the price jumps are "a necessary step to ensure [the company] can continue delivering innovative, high-quality gaming experiences to players worldwide".

It's not just the consoles that will cost you more. Sony is also increasing the price of the handheld PlayStation Portal device, on which you can stream your PS5 games whether or not you're actually near your console. The Portal will now set you back $249.99, up from $200.

This is the second time in twelve months...
