Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth's Devs Hear You: The Platinum Was Too Brutal

If there's one complaint about Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, aside from the fact that it might've overstayed its welcome just a teensy bit, it's the fact that its Platinum Trophy isn't for the faint of heart.

In fact, among Platinum Trophies, it's particularly brutal, essentially requiring perfection in every facet of the game, which is already long. Go figure, Naoki Hamaguchi is aware that things might've been too difficult for even the most hardcore of Final Fantasy players.

As first spotted by Push Square, in a new interview with Restart.Run, Hamaguchi essentially apologized for putting Final Fantasy 7 fans through such an ordeal. When asked if there was one thing he'd like to reassess, he immediately pointed to the Trophies.

"We prepared an incredibly diverse range of content as an open-world game for Rebirth, designing the overall game with a philosophy where the players could choose what they wanted to engage in," Hamaguchi explained. "That said, the completion condition for Trophies ultimately required finishing every element of the game perfectly, which may have been a bit excessive in hindsight.
