Players Are Facing Random Bans In One Of 2026’s Most-Played Games, Developer Suggests They're Not As Random As You Think

Task Bar Hero's popularity is surging. Just a couple of days ago, we reported how the indie title topped 200,000 concurrent players on Steam, and it's only continued to go from strength to strength. Last night, it hit the 230,000 mark, making it the fifth-most-played game on the Valve-owned platform of the year so far, behind Resident Evil Requiem, Slay the Spire 2, Forza Horizon 6, and Crimson Desert. That's some esteemed company.

But while players flock to the title, it's not all as rosy as it seems, with Task Bar Hero having less than 50 percent positive reviews, no thanks in part to the fact that players are getting randomly banned.

Data from SteamDB shows that Task Bar Hero's reviews aren't too hot. Of the 9,200 published reviews for the game, only 49 percent of them were positive. And it's for three major reasons: the game's data collection and analytics, bots, and the fact that players are facing seemingly random bans.
