MMORPG.com's Reviews

Jul 15, 2019

Shadowbringers brings a lot to the table. From a great story, to amazing areas to discover and explore, Square Enix has truly outdone themselves this time. With many changes not only to the Jobs system, but also FATEs and just general gameplay, it's more than enough to bring new players and returning players alike to the game.  Unfortunately, it's not all perfect, but the flaws are mostly revolving around issues not related to actual gameplay. Still, some will find the content boring, as per usual, but to me, it's pure fun!Score: 8.5/10

5.5 / 10.0 - Conqueror's Blade
Jun 13, 2019

Conqueror’s Blade attempts to set a new standard for what a tactical action MMO can look like. The game does achieve some of what it sets out to do, with some truly great tactical moments and some epic battle sequences. However, clunky, simple player combat, overwhelming progression systems and lacklustre visuals and open world leave the game feeling underwhelming and a bit disappointing.

8.3 / 10.0 - Rage 2
May 13, 2019

We may never get a sequel to Mad Max, but with Rage 2, we don't need it. It may not be perfect, but Rage 2 is a whole lot of fun, and I expect we'll be seeing more in this series for years to come. Or so I hope.

9 / 10.0 - Mordhau
May 8, 2019

Even with the struggles over the last week, the launch of Mordhau has clearly been a success for Triternion and players alike. Even as horrible as I am at the combat it is impossible to deny the melee fighting is a welcome reprieve from the usual first-person shooter or Diablo-esque hack-n-slash combat. The dev team seems intent on keeping the community updated on issues as they arise, and they have already announced they will be adding more content to the game.Score: 9.0

Like all games-as-a-service, it’s only going to get better with time. Unlike most recently, it’s already a great video game which leaves me very excited for what’s to come.

For a game that had literally zero marketing, it has taken the player base by storm.

6.5 / 10.0 - Anthem
Feb 22, 2019

Six months or a year from now, Anthem, like many of the other games before it, may be a wholly improved experience and complete its redemption arc, but right now it may as well be AAA Early Access.

5.2 / 10.0 - Warlords Awakening

For players that have no other ARPGs to play, there is something to be had here, a solid time-sink, but don’t expect Warlords: Awakening to do much more than put you to sleep.

Personally, I am loving my experiences in Appalachia. It has been a great point of connection with friends and family. And that, to me, is almost… not quite, but almost heaven.

8 / 10.0 - Dreadnought
Nov 9, 2018

Currently only available on PlayStation 4 and Microsoft Windows, Dreadnought is a free to play game with optional packs to buy, and premium services to purchase to increase the number of rewards you receive. If you want to get away from the real world games like War Thunder and the World of series of games, give this one a try.

RDR2's start is slow, measured, but as the layers begin to unfold and the scope of the game's sandbox is known, you see just how impressive it all really is. This is easily a top candidate for one of the greatest open world RPGs of all time.

8.5 / 10.0 - Boundless
Sep 12, 2018

Ultimately, despite its long development cycle, Boundless is still very much a new experience for a lot of players. Much like games like Eve Online or even Black Desert Online, time will be the real measure of how well this player driven MMO really works but at present I'm having a blast running around and exploring because that's how I like to play!

Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age scratches that nostalgic itch for a traditional JRPG without looking like it had to try too hard at it. It’s not leaning on the crutch of pixel art or fake imitations. It’s the natural extension of what the Dragon Quest series of yore has grown into for an audience today. Turn based combat? Check. Traditional Dragon Quest aesthetics? Check and check. Blue slimes? Of course, there are blue slimes! Fun and relevant in today’s modern age? You bet. While it may be unintentional XI’s subtitle is more than fitting for just the story, it’s also fitting for Dragon Quest in today’s modern age. It echoes back to that elusive golden age of the JRPG.

7 / 10.0 - The Crew 2
Jul 3, 2018

Overall while the game is fun, it has its flaws and doesn't feel like a 100% complete game at the moment. With no real competitive racing options, it's missing that ingredient to make it a truly special experience. At least when that DLC comes, it'll be free for all players, and not something extra to pay for.
