I like Edge a lot. It's addictive and elegant in its simplicity, and the geometric world is bizarrely engaging.
It’s exactly what you want out of a portable party game, complimenting the 3DS effortlessly, and bringing a perfectly suited party game to the console that is long overdue.
Not since Super Mario World have I been so in love with a Mario game.
Since it follows the roadmap so closely, it’s not quite as fresh as the SNES classic was in 1992, but that doesn’t make it any less of an amazing experience. A Link Between Worlds is a delightful adventure that hits every high note a 2D Zelda game has ever produced while creating many new hallmarks of its own. In a year filled with quality 3DS games, A Link Between Worlds is another fantastic entry on a system that is quickly becoming home to a number of instant classics.
This might not be the most interesting experience in the franchise, but at least, it once again, offers an impressive multiplayer offering for the Wii U.
While it would be nice if more difficult exercises were readily available from that start and if routines didn't feature a jerky start-stop-start progression, Wii Fit U remains the best exercise game I've ever played.
If you have kids and they love any of the Marvel superheroes, I could definitely recommend this game to them. Otherwise, you can le'go of any hope that this game could be enjoyable.
Mario & Sonic at the Sochi 2014 Olympic Winter Games is exactly what it says it is: an Olympics game with Mario and Sonic. While it is fun, it doesn't necessarily do anything past entries didn't do. That's not necessarily a bad thing though, because overall it is a solid formula, despite some of its flaws.
Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag boasts tons of content, an exciting story, and plenty of fun gameplay. Some of the series tropes are running thin as the series is now going on its sixth entry, but it is still a quality experience. Black Flag is currently my favorite game in the series, not only because of its heavy use of piracy, but because of the constant swapping between land and sea gameplay. Black Flag is a must have for fans of Assassin's Creed, and newcomers with a love for pirates will surely find something to love.
Anybody looking for a decent rhythm game will likely be disappointed with the inaccuracy, and anybody looking to improve their dancing skills with realtime feedback would probably be better served just purchasing a dance video. I'm sure that this will be a regular attendee at many parties, and perhaps that's the kind of environment Ubisoft had in mind when they crafted it. But, facts are facts, and the facts are that Just Dance 2014 is a very pretty frontend tacked on to a glorified dance video.
Even when it's safe, Swap Force is still a wildly entertaining game and another satisfying entry in a genre that rarely gets this much love and care. It might lack the innovative magic of Spyro's Adventure or the daring ingenuity of Giants, but it's still a formula that works, even if the routine is starting to show.
I've enjoyed the recent adventures of Mario, Kirby, and Donkey Kong as well as the more insane challenge of Super Meat Boy and Cloudberry Kingdom, but Rayman Legends outshines them all. Brimming with charm and creativity, Rayman Legends is the finest 2D platformer of this generation, and handily so.
I sincerely hope WayForward gets the opportunity to remaster DuckTales 2 in the near future.
Although the game starts out slow, the reward is in making it to the higher levels. Once all the tricks and gimmicks are explained, the floors can expand and play with the format's limitations. The pros really outweigh the cons here, and anyone looking for puzzles with a fun twist would have fun with this game.
