Critic Reviews for Spy Chameleon

Spy Chameleon's focus on challenges is obviously aimed at completionists, who will certainly get the most out of the game. Those who prefer to reach a level's exit and move on to the next one may end up feeling a little short-changed, as the challenges make up the bulk of the title's duration. However, the current asking price is extremely reasonable, especially when you consider the amount of replayability and achievements on offer. Spy Chameleon is a lot of fun and, despite some minor technical flaws, would make a great addition to any puzzle fan's eShop collection.

Spy Chameleon is a fun and engaging puzzler, with a likeable aesthetic that will keep you amused throughout its seventy-five increasingly challenging levels. It's a relatively short experience, but the extra challenges and online leaderboards add length to an enjoyable indie package.

Spy Chameleon is a short game that feels too long. It's one good idea not fully realized and a reptilian mascot who deserves another shot.

Contrary to popular belief, chameleons actually change colors based on emotions. Like those lizards, my time with Spy Chameleon was colored by feelings, too: of satisfaction when I'd finally overcome a persistent problem, which is the driving force behind any good puzzle game, of frustration from out of place level spikes, and of disappointment with an anticlimactic final few levels. At its best, the game is a worthy challenge for anyone who appreciates a video game just being a video game. With its classic arcade gameplay, cheap pricetag, almost no loading screens whatsoever, and its one-more-try mentality, Spy Chameleon would feel right at home on mobile and tablets if it weren't so reliant on pinpoint controls that touchscreens just can't provide. Fortunately the analog sticks and color-coded face buttons on the Xbox One controller fit the game like the titular hero's mask and the end result is a sneakily good puzzler.

Spy Chameleon is simple and easy to recommend to players. What it does, it does well, and the price point is spot on. There isn't much to the game, but there is plenty to keep me coming back. Earning better times is fun, and competing with friends is a blast. This is the perfect solution to one of those "I have no idea what to play tonight" moods. Snag it for $5 and thank me later.

Spy Chameleon is an accessible puzzle game that departs from an attractive premise. While it does not stand out clearly above everything else on the market, it does have a wide array of levels and welcomes players of any level of experience.

Boasting addicting gameplay and tight mechanics, Spy Chameleon provides more than enough content to justify its cheap price tag.

Unfinished Pixel has simplified stealth into its core essence and have created a very satisfying experience. It's sadly over before it really hits its stride, but there is plenty of incentive to replay levels. The short levels are also a perfect fit for handheld gaming.
