The best part of Endless Legend is its interesting and vibrant setting. Each faction is unique with a rich history and lore that can be uncovered through the course of gameplay. The world of Auriga is divided into regions that are claimed by a single cities, affording players with the incentive to explore further into the unknown.
Banished is a game that you can pick up and play and then drop in a minute to go do real life tasks. You can largely play the game on your own terms and in your own style, which is wonderful. The goals in front of you are flexible enough to allow for creativity while concrete enough to give you a sense of accomplishment.
Taken as is, Gears of War: Ultimate Edition is everything a fan would want in a remake of this game, whether they plan to play it alone, with a friend, or against a bunch of people they meet online.
I can honestly say that I have never played a shooter as much as I have played Destiny. Not Call of Duty, not Halo, Not Far Cry or Battlefield. I've clocked in hundreds of hours in the game since its release last year (I wouldn't be surprised if there are people who have thousands), and with The Taken King it looks like it'll just continue to increase.
If you've ever enjoyed an open-world RPG or shooter before, Fallout 4 is a must-play.
While 2013's Tomb Raider reboot was great, fans of the series were pining for more tombs to explore and relics to collect. Crystal Dynamics addressed that and then some in Rise of the Tomb Raider, improving on its upgrade system, telling a fun story, more puzzles, and adding bears, tigers, cheetahs, and more packs of wolves to kill and skin. Just like we remember.
Where last year's game sometimes felt like a non-stop shooting gallery with blazing ping-pong action across the entire field, this year's game more closely follows the pace of a typical real-life match. And that's a good thing.
One of the best indie games to surface this year, Runbow is a sheer delight, whether you're running through the game on your own or taking up with a group of friends in a fight to the finish. Make sure you rush to the eShop and give it a download.
Forza Horizon 4 is a tremendous achievement and will most likely displace Gran Turismo Sport as my racing game of choice. Yes, even without a racing wheel. With hundreds of cars and dozens of race tracks and more to come, I won't run out of stuff to do any time soon. See you in Scotland!
If you played the first Banner Saga, this is a must buy. If you missed The Banner Saga 1, consider purchasing it just so you can give The Banner Saga 2 a chance.
Total War: Warhammer is a lot of fun, but keeps the complexity that can make Total War titles intimidating for new players.
While it isn't perfect, The Following openly embraces everything that made Dying Light a standout hit of 2015 and also injects enough fresh content to warrant a return visit from even the most hardcore of Harran's explorers.
Rock Band 4 picks up where Rock Band 3 left off but with new features, new instruments, new music, and an available music library that will give you plenty playing time. Plus, if you have your old wireless peripherals from previous Rock Band games, you'll be able to use with them Rock Band 4. Harmonix loves us.
XCOM 2 is a big success that delivers in just about every way you could ask for. Fans of the franchise or the strategy genre in general will love it.
For those of you who have been longing to fill your F-Zero void, Fast Racing Neo is it. It's a wonderful futuristic racer with plenty of perks, challenges and joys, whether you prefer going at it alone or cruising with friends in tow. It's one of the year's most surprising games, and a ride you definitely shouldn't miss.
Stardew Valley is the best and most entertaining farming RPG to come along in years, and it's filled with such sheer charm and sincerity that it'll instantly win you over.
Superhot is an absolute joy to play, and it includes some great extra modes, neat story twists, and outstanding art. It's a complete package, and even though it's all over rather quickly, it's worth revisiting again and again.
Tokyo Mirage Sessions is not only the best JRPG to come out for the Wii U, it’s likely the best JRPG we have seen in this generation, period. Atlus is going to have their work cut out for them if they are going to one-up themselves with Persona 5.
Hover Junkers proves Roomscale VR systems like the Vive aren't gimmicks but the future of gaming. Hover Junkers just made every non-VR shooter obsolete.
Though the first episode only provides a few hours of gameplay, The Gallery provides a great example of the power and potential of VR gaming.
