Twinfinite's Reviews

Oct 5, 2014

I believe The Vanishing of Ethan Carter is an incredible game that shouldn't be missed. Of course it won't be everyone's cup of tea and it's massively story-centered, but if you don't mind this, you will enjoy what is a real jewel of a game and a title from which the gaming industry can learn a lot.

2 / 5.0 - Chariot

Chariot definitely has its heart in the right place. It brings a lot to the platforming space in order to stand out.

4 / 5.0 - Fenix Rage
Oct 3, 2014

All told, Fenix Rage is a snappy, well-designed but infuriatingly difficult platformer. Fans of Super Meat Boy and the like would do well to check it out, either now via Steam for $14.

Shadow of Mordor has gone from an afterthought to one of the most lovingly discussed games in the new console cycle. Playing it, it's easy to see why. Given the source material, it's a little disappointing that story wasn't stronger. However, the nemesis system, helped by solid navigation and combat systems, is a true innovation in an industry struggling to move forward. Shadow of Mordor is a surprising breath of fresh air.

3 / 5.0 - Roundabout
Sep 30, 2014

On the same note getting the best experience out of Roundabout is exactly the same as getting a good mouthful of popcorn. Dipping your hand deep into the bag doesn't always lead to something great. Taking a handful from the top of its exposed delights is without a doubt the best way to enjoy yourself in a game which delights trying – and often succeeding – in drawing a big smile across your face.

Neverending Nightmares tells a very dark and personal story. It is not a feel-good story, and the ending I received wasn't a happy one. The journey is simultaneously thrilling and somber, and it may leave you feeling a bit nauseous. And guess what? It's a gem of a game. If you are comfortable with feeling uncomfortable, and want an experience that feels heavy without feeling arduous, Neverending Nightmares is definitely a must buy.

5 / 5.0 - 6180 The Moon

Providing an action platformer that is challenging but doesn't feel cheap is something that many games suffer from. 6180 the moon manages to overcome this challenge gracefully.

If Watch_Dogs was this new IP putting it's foot in the door then Bad Blood is it stepping completely into the room. Building on an already solid foundation this entry sets the scene perfectly for what's to come.

4 / 5.0 - Velocibox
Sep 20, 2014

Several people in the community have likened Velocibox to Terry Cavanagh's Super Hexagon and in all fairness, the comparison is justified. The game has a nearly magical power to not only heighten your senses but mold them into powerful tools, all the while eating up time like a stealthy hamster.

There's no getting around it; Hatoful Boyfriend is weird. Even if we were to ignore the fact that you're pursuing romantic encounters with various kinds of birds, the story and endings still make Hatoful Boyfriend an unforgettable experience.

3 / 5.0 - Fairy Fencer F
Sep 16, 2014

Ultimately, Fairy Fencer F's few awful qualities keep it from being a fantastic game. Apart from a few annoying aural attributes and its subpar combat visuals this is a great JRPG.

3 / 5.0 - Destiny

It will still eat up your social life and spit you out. It is almost worth purchasing Destiny to feel just how good a Generation 8 shooter could feel.

Minecraft is probably one of the greatest games of this generation, possibly ever. It taps into the limitless human imagination to fuel the game beyond what most other games could only wish to accomplish.

4 / 5.0 - Madden NFL 15

Overall, Madden NFL 15 is a fantastic installment in the yearly football series. It isn't without its flaws, but this year's game brings great improvements in areas where the series was particularly lacking in.

Super Time Force Ultra is a great gaming experience and should not be missed by action-platformer fans. Its funny script including ridiculous missions and time travel stereotypes combine perfectly with its innovative mechanics, assuring a great time.

3 / 5.0 - Train Fever
Sep 2, 2014

In full honesty, I'm going to admit that I did not do very well playing Train Fever. It was a difficult and, at times, frustrating experience for me to get the hang of it for this review, but I stuck with it as best I could because, despite my flagrant ineptitude, I got the sense that it was a good game if you're into simulators.

4 / 5.0 - Lethal League

There's a good reason why Lethal League was featured in the EVO 2014 showcase and other competitive gaming events. While there is a lack of variety there is no lack of fun.

Telltale completes this season on an incredibly strong note which demonstrates just how impressive they are as storytellers; Clementine is allowed to have a brief moment of peace and a shred of hope that maybe things can get better. One final decision made right at the end lets all the doubt and worry creep back in just as the season fades out.
