Twinfinite's Reviews

First Light is a DLC that has everything working for it: standalone status, great character, great story, and amazing gameplay. Expanding on a game that was made to feel fun first, it does everything right and then some. Building on what the series already established, and even fixing some of the less desirable issues, inFAMOUS First Light manages to feel familiar yet also like a new game. If this is any indication of what to expect from Sucker Punch, I am definitely looking forward to what comes out of this studio next

Or just play the game in short bursts. Taking more than two hours with Lichdom: Battlemage turns it into an ill-advised shotgun wedding.

Extreme Exorcism winds up taking a very simple idea, splashing it with variety, and turning it into something that's not just well done, but tons of fun. With solid mechanics, visuals, and audio to back up the intense, engaging gameplay, it creates a fantastic experience whether you're playing alone or are in a multiplayer game.

Action RPGs may not be your thing but if the idea of bringing death to thousands of gruesome monsters in a forboding world burning in the flames of unending war sounds like fun, then Diablo 3: Reaper of Souls Ultimate Evil Edition is a shining prospect as a game to pick up. Its not a replacement for the already-strong PC version but there's definitely enough here to keep anyone going for hours.

3 / 5.0 - Mega Coin Squad
Aug 17, 2014

Good news is that Big Pixel Studios isn't done with the development of this title and its developers have already begun asking for opinions on new characters on the Steam forums. If they reconsider the multiplayer possibilities, this game can become a lot more than what it already is.

4 / 5.0 - Overruled!
Aug 15, 2014

At the end of the day, I had an absolute blast playing Overruled! and that, for me, is the most important metric by which any game can be judged. While the first round was a confusing morass of blind fumbling and trying to understand, all the ones after it were an exercise in the best kind of tense, engaging gameplay.

Instead, all that Risen 3 offers is a decidedly average RPG which leaves behind the bitter taste of missed opportunities and bad rum..

5 / 5.0 - Screencheat
Aug 11, 2014

It's great fun, and I had a big dumb smile on my face the entire time. If you're looking to relive the most controversial part of multiplayer gaming's yesteryear, I highly recommend Screencheat.

Disgaea 4: A Promise Revisited is a solid, polished game. This is expected, as it’s essentially the same battle system used back in 2003 on the PS2. It fails to exceed the low side of mediocrity, however, as its lack of interesting characters and compelling narrative fail to overcome stale humor and very tried yet true tactical gameplay.

As an exercise in wit, Back to Bed excels wonderfully.

With a healthy mix of challenging battles, easy-to-learn gameplay, and in-depth customization, Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky is one worth looking into, and one I'll certainly keep coming back for more from.

1 / 5.0 - DreadOut
Aug 6, 2014

After the first 15 or 20 minutes, Dreadout begins to overstay its welcome. It isn't effective as a fun game to play or as a scary game to experience. It quickly becomes one giant, tedious fetch quest, with very few legitimate scares throughout. With horror games, it is difficult to achieve balance between scares and gameplay, but in the case of Dreadout, neither element is effective, and the game truly feels unfinished as a result, even with the promise of future installments.

4 / 5.0 - The Swapper
Aug 4, 2014

The Swapper isn't for everyone. Its plot is dense and tucked away. Only those dedicated to knowing the full story will bother to locate and read all of the terminals. Also, at times, it can be extremely difficult and its one-dimensional gameplay won't do it any favors in attracting a wide audience. However for what it does within its niche, The Swapper is a complete, well-constructed, and well-thought-out game that will keep hardcore puzzle/platformer fans looking for something new very entertained.

At the end of the day, Mind: Path of Thalamus is a solid puzzle game that is well worth a playthrough. It's challenging enough that you won't blow through it, but quite accessible once you figure out the basics.

If Deconstructeam made success and failure feel less arbitrary they would have had a classic game on their hands, instead the game starts to wear on you at the halfway point. I'd still recommend playing this game because it does have a lot of interesting little quirks and innovations to the genre, but you'll have to slog through some poor design choices to get to them.

Overall, The Last of Us Remastered is a solid title for the growing PS4 library and it's perfect for anyone who gave the game a miss last year to jump in. As for players who have already experienced the game on the PS3, I'd say this is a great opportunity to take another dive into the game's universe, especially if you loved it the first time you played it.
