Twinfinite's Reviews

Dec 4, 2014

If I'm being entirely honest, This War of Mine is one of the best all-around games I've played all year. A crisp, consistent atmosphere, intuitive gameplay, and surprising depth create a fantastic experience.

5 / 5.0 - Screencheat
Aug 11, 2014

It's great fun, and I had a big dumb smile on my face the entire time. If you're looking to relive the most controversial part of multiplayer gaming's yesteryear, I highly recommend Screencheat.

While I admit I had many reservations about Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel, I'm very, very pleased with the end result. While there are still some glitches — we had a boss get stuck in the open, unmoving and invulnerable to attack, and some odd interactions with plot NPCs holding quest items out into walls and Fast Travel stations, for instance — it's well-polished, and the errors don't crop up enough to really be a bother.

Telltale completes this season on an incredibly strong note which demonstrates just how impressive they are as storytellers; Clementine is allowed to have a brief moment of peace and a shred of hope that maybe things can get better. One final decision made right at the end lets all the doubt and worry creep back in just as the season fades out.

Super Time Force Ultra is a great gaming experience and should not be missed by action-platformer fans. Its funny script including ridiculous missions and time travel stereotypes combine perfectly with its innovative mechanics, assuring a great time.

As an exercise in wit, Back to Bed excels wonderfully.

5 / 5.0 - Life Goes On
Apr 22, 2014

It's not every day you play a video game that changes how you look at the format itself. Infinite Monkeys, with its never-ending team of sacrificial knights, not only pulls it off but does so with style in Life Goes On.

5 / 5.0 - Luftrausers
Mar 18, 2014

Luftrauser was too difficult, extreme, and monochrome for some and I'm happy to report that this remake does absolutely nothing to address these issues, but rather only expands upon them gloriously..

5 / 5.0 - Mario Kart 8
May 22, 2014

All in all, Mario Kart 8 gives seasoned players the game that they deserved when its Wii sibling hit the shelves, but also doesn't rely so heavily on past experience, keeping it open for new players. The 50cc class is a nice spot for beginners, and can be used to unlock any of the game's eight Grand Prix Cups for play in the tougher 100 or 150cc classes.

5 / 5.0 - Edge
Dec 9, 2013

Since its debut on iOS, Edge has remained a solid, challenging, and toe-tapping platformer that is still well worth checking out, whether its on the Wii-U eShop, Steam, or for mobile devices. Plus, you get to be a sweet disco cube in space.

For a mere $9.99 on Steam, there's little reason (other than holding out for a nigh-inevitable sale price in the future) that I wouldn't recommend it to anyone — and I don't hesitate at all to say this is probably a must-play for those who, like me, love the genre and wish it had more high-quality titles to offset the flood of terrible browser-based entries.

5 / 5.0 - Blackguards 2
Jan 15, 2015

Blackguard 2 manages to exist as a game that feels like a classic strategy role playing game, and as so much more at the same time. A deep story with great characters, varied quests, deep customization, and great battles make for a must have game.

In spite of this, Endless Legend gets my full and unfettered recommendation. If you like strategy games, fantasy/science fiction hybrids, beautiful art, and just plain having fun, you should already be downloading Endless Legend from Steam today.

Hearthstone is accessible and fun. Even without purchasing cards it's a very fun game to play and winning repeatedly is very possible. The game's mechanics are easily learned, but combining them into a winning strategy is a complex and fun process.

Batman: Arkham Knight manages to be a perfect example of what a solid AAA experience can offer, and it should not be missed under any circumstances. Even if you aren't a fan of the hero, or the world as you may have known it before, this is an experience that will help to define a generation of consoles, just like its predecessors did before it.

Neverending Nightmares tells a very dark and personal story. It is not a feel-good story, and the ending I received wasn't a happy one. The journey is simultaneously thrilling and somber, and it may leave you feeling a bit nauseous. And guess what? It's a gem of a game. If you are comfortable with feeling uncomfortable, and want an experience that feels heavy without feeling arduous, Neverending Nightmares is definitely a must buy.

Overall, I feel like Max: The Curse of Brotherhood is the fresh, simple platformer that the industry has missed since the days of the genre's prominence. While it's too small to ever win a Game of the Year award, the game is more than worth your time, especially when only for $15.

5 / 5.0 - Dark Souls III

As the final game in the series, Dark Souls III delivers a fantastic, no holds barred, 30-hour experience that will satisfy longtime fans. Dark Souls III polishes its gameplay mechanics to a shine, and delivers the lore in droves to those who hunger for it – the perfect mix for an action RPG. Praise the Sun.

Its clashing themes, self-referential script, accomplished cinematography and dynamic characters tell a profoundly human story. The feeling of boundless adventure burns brighter than that of a neatly closing door, but though this is not these characters' highest caliber tale, this is the tale that rings true.
