DualShockers's Reviews

Sep 21, 2021

I really can’t recommend Kena: Bridge of Spirits highly enough that will see players partake in a meaningful journey absorbed in a vibrant world filled with fluid animations that cries out to be explored. With the game’s added photo mode, expect to add on a few more gameplay hours as you fill up your gallery with lots of cute Rot pictures, too.

But it’s to Bioshock’s great credit that that’s its most glaring problem when played today (that, and the fact that ‘Arcadia Merlot’ wine actually says Cabernet Sauvignon on the label). To stretch that wine aside into an analogy, Bioshock really has aged like a fine Arcadia Merlot. It remains one of gaming’s great explorations of one of gaming’s greatest environments, even if you can see through Atlas’ bullshit like you can see Rapture’s glorious skyline (sealine?) through its oddly pristine glass corridors.

From start to finish, God of War Ragnarok is an incredible journey, earning it a place among the absolute best PlayStation games of all time.

10 / 10.0 - Baldur's Gate 3
Aug 3, 2023

Baldur's Gate 3 is a masterfully crafted RPG that improves on every aspect of Larian's past work, and is a worthy successor to the series. DualShockers was provided with a copy of the game for review purposes.

Marvel's Spider-Man 2 perfectly captures the superhero experience from start to finish without sacrificing smart, thoughtful storytelling.

9.8 / 10.0 - BLACKTAIL
Dec 15, 2022

Beyond that though, the only thing Blacktail has against it is that it calls for patient, curious players. If you’re the sort who insists on only following a dotted line and ignoring everything off to the sides, you’ll miss out on some of the best moments in Blacktail, like saving a mushroom spymaster’s best agent, or spelunking through gorgeously lit caverns. Blacktail is a game to be savored, peeling away its world a little more at a time. If you meet it halfway, you’ll be left with a breath of fresh air rarely seen in the industry these days: a well paced game that only tries to be what it wants to be and never compromises that vision. A beautiful, touching piece of work that’s bound to stick with you long after you finish it, Blacktail is a world worth getting lost in.

A visually stunning fighter with loads of fun single-player content, a combat system that encourages diversity, and an amazing but short story. DualShockers was provided with a copy of the game for review purposes.

9.5 / 10.0 - Shovel Knight
Jun 26, 2014

Shovel Knight is a game that looks fondly on its past but its shovel-wielding hero can easily earn a seat next to the timeless Mario or Mega Man.

9.5 / 10.0 - Teslagrad
Dec 12, 2013

Like one of the real Nikola Tesla's fantastic ideas, [Teslagrad] shines bright and strong, bringing its own unique spirit into an overly crowded industry. And making it through to the game's conclusion is well worth the wait.

9.5 / 10.0 - Bloodborne
Mar 24, 2015

Yet, while it does have a few actual shortcomings, if you're willing to embrace its challenge and ruthless fairness, Bloodborne is most probably the best game released on PS4 so far, and one of the best experiences of this generation. It mixes pleasure and pain wisely, creating a special concoction that will keep you glued to the DualShock 4 (unless you throw it against a wall). The utterly fulfilling sensation you'll feel after finally beating some of the most resilient bosses will make you cry with joy. It's simply priceless.

The best part about Dragon Age is how you take complete ownership of this world you've invested so much time in. For better or worse, you made this happen with your decisions and it shows. This might be the epic fantasy RPG you've been waiting a good long while for. Hell, it may just be the Dragon Age game you've finally been waiting for.

inFAMOUS: Second Son is easily the best game I've played on the PlayStation 4 and the best example out there of how amazing the current gen can and will be.

With this episode, Telltale Games wonderfully balances character development, story progression, and a hearty amount of good laughs all in one 90 minute to two hour session, setting it as a bit of a double-edged sword for the series as both its highlight (so far) and a tough bar to reach for the subsequent episodes.

9.5 / 10.0 - Dark Souls II
Mar 11, 2014

Overall Dark Souls II is one of the best games I have ever played. I have never before laughed at my own stupidity, cried out with frustration and jumped because of random beastly creatures hidden in the dark of the night.

Whether you love the Yoshi franchise or are new to it, without a doubt I would recommend Yoshi's Woolly World. The game has so many unique levels, the mini games are fun, there's plenty of challenge and challenges to be found in every level (especially with all the item collecting), adding up to tons of fun and replay value.
